It looks like the facts have become a little twisted regarding traders not allowed to sell branded parts that other traders on the board already sell.

There is no rule in this club to say that each trader can’t sell parts that another trader supplies. This is a gentleman’s agreement between the traders and you will find that a large number of traders do work along side each other supplying each other with many parts. Our club is unique in this method and many other top car clubs have looked at the way this works and emailed me to say it looks like our system works very well and unlike theirs they don’t see massive bun fights and arguments between online traders. But at the end of the day this system that is in place will not suit every one.

Unfortunately some of the traders in the past were not gentlemen and will do whatever they can to cut the throats of other traders when this agreement is in place. Please read my post in the announcement section

One of the stated aims for the 300ZX.CO.UK Club since it was started in 2003 has been to get as many subscribed traders as possible to participate with the club so we can get benefits for both the club and our subscribed members. We now have fourteen selected traders each supplying a broad range of goods and services through the Club’s forum at competitive prices. These traders support the club financially and are well known and respected in the Japanese car community. The Club takes care to ensure that traders act responsibly to give the best service to our members at all times. This setup is in contrast to the approach other clubs have tried with ad-hoc and free for all trading which has resulted in trading wars and poor customer service.

One of my goals on here is to generate group buys for members and traders that way both members and traders can benefit in a big way and purchase parts at even greater discounts. Some of our traders that supply parts can’t even be bothered to set these group buys in place. Only once have I started a group buy for a trader and another trader really did kick off about that and said it was not down to me the TLO but down to the trader to and I quote ( get off his lazy arse and do it himself) I don’t mind at all starting group buys for anyone however I now leave this to the trader to sort as I am busy with other problems that crop up from time to time.

Why does it not work? Because one trader wont renew? If the traders want a free for all then this thread is the place to say it. Its not down to a public poll It is down to the traders that pay their fees on how they want to trade.

And what about the members who pay there fees not a public poll mac a poll of paid members who might want to see more compition in the prices and goods avalible to them

Is this a traders club or a members club?

Jim, did yer not read my post on the other thread ? we're not losing Luke, cos he was hardly ever here in the 1st place! in 3 years he had around 80 posts to his name, never responded to queries in his traders section and din't get involved really in GB's, because he's a busy bloke outside of the forum with his business and whatever else he does and thats not meant in any derogitary way at all ;)

He's still a member no matter what happens as regards his traders subs and can post as he sees fit from now on, being the ONLY Zed specialst bodyparts supplier in the UK that am aware off, he clearly doesn't need the same functions as the rest of the traders.

Finally, again i'll say he's a body part supplier, lately he's opened up new products which are sold through his website in the excact same manner as ALL the rest of the traders here who openly don't advertise something on the forum, but do so on their website instead, so NO ONE on the forum is made to or pushed in any direction towards a particular trader, it's the main reason why we openly advertise our websites. Check them all out and you'll be surprised to see just how many similar products we all sell.

cheers

I have deleted your post on the other thread and you chose to start it up again

In the AUP it states

Directly opposing the decision of a Moderator on the Forum will result in the immediate enforcement of the Forum ban policy with no Warning.

Have a week off!

Has anyone found out why Luke has not renewed, it might not just be an oversight.

I know he is not IT friendly so has anyone wirtten to him, to tell about his subs?

I spoke to him a couple of days ago and he did not mention any problems to me with the forum?

does it really matter at the end of the day. if we want parts from zcentre we know where the website is.

I have to agree with Mac here!!

Unless traders go by and follow some kind of system, (have to say that by the looks of things this one on the site seems to have worked so far so good) then you will end up with a Free-For-All. This already exists to some extent in the form of EBAY. :D

I know that other Well-known Car Forums that have no agreed trading system in place have even had traders threatening each other, because one sells a certain item at a lower price, then another cuts in with a lower deal still........This certainly won't help the traders who rely on the trade they recieve as sole income, and may even compromise the buyer.

If it ain't broke then why fix it................?

But traders do that anyway....there is always someone undercutting someone else.....not that I'm complaining :nana2:

traders on here shouldn't be made to compete with E-bay. how many on here complain about E-bay, traders on here look after us as they want us back again

as a relative newcomer to the Z scene (but not to the car scene in general) i think the paid up members should be the ones who benefit by any trader activity on here, and THEIR wishes and thoughts should be taken seriously into consideration when deciding on how traders should do business on here...

after all this is supposed to be a club that wants the best for its members, this surely WONT be done by letting excellent traders like Luke slip through the net will it??

this lad helped me out when i was in a situation where words just werent enough and Luke bailed me out, how many other people has he done this for?? how many people has he given good advice to on the fone??

this club, and more so its members, NEED traders like Luke on-board, as the comments on the other thread would indeed suggest...

the whole idea of trader X only selling product Y is also a bit of a joke in my opinion.. UNLESS all the traders who i assume pay the SAME FEE to trade on here, have an equal share of the marketplace, DO THEY??? i can see how this policy could easily be abused, but i wont go there, for now at any rate....

the arguement about a pricing war etc etc is also flawed, as only a fool would sell stuff at a loss on a regular basis, if i was selling something and someone put a quote in under my lowest price then good luck to them, this is called BUSINESS.!!!! it happens, its a hard world out there guys...

if the trading rules / agreement cant be changed, maybe they should be reviewed, and fees aportioned according to maybe the NUMBER of products each trader is allowed to sell? so if trader X is allowed to sell 50 products he pays 50 times MORE then trader Y who sells 1 product, might this be a more fair method?

anyway, shame you've gone Luke, i'm sure you'll be fine tho as the vast majority on here are giving you support and we know where you are...

hope the trading rules can be reviewed, mainly for the sake of the paid members on here..

Tony

p.s as a paid member do we get stickers or anything?? i've heard mention of them before but i've never had mine so am unsure??

going to repaste my response from previous thread,

at the beginning traders were asked to join to sell products they specialised in, thats what the club wanted, select specialists who sold their items well, not a big barny with people undercutting each other or fly by nights who pop on to make a quick buck and then dissapear. a lot of those guys are still around

smithy - flywheels, clutches shiny bits &turbos

chris - greddy and select performance products

DTA - primarily conzult

MJP - OEM nissan parts

Andyz - second hand parts

The club was never meant to be a shop front selling to people , there are plenty of places to shop around, we just put a mechanism in place for people who traded good select items to come on board and sell. You can get the pieces cheaper else where IE eBay, but we have always strived to chose people who offer good service.

Unfortunately luke is one of the good guys who provides a good service, but the forum may not be the best place for him to trade direct with customers, banner advertisement would probably have been better for him.

We could open up trading rules, and its been discussed in length, after discussion with traders it was pretty much decided that we could end up losing a lot of the good guys who offer you the deals. where would be then? one trader monopolising the membership?

The club is for the members and we are always willing to listen, but remember we also gave you the opportunity of choice, 300zx.co.uk could have been a business with one trader run by the founders, but we decided to open it up to established business's for the good of the membership, we decided on forum to go the route we did, and as ian has mentioned a lot of car clubs have expressed interest in the way he has run this ship.

everyone wants better prices, and it is possible to find better prices elsewhere , the club wants the membership to have the best service for reasonable prices, we don't dictate to members not to deal with the traders they like off forum, but it has been agreed by the traders they will only sell certain items. you can put a poll up, but ultimately this agreement was put in place by the traders and to a certain extent it is enforced by the club.

there was actually method behind the system we wanted to keep it nice for you guys.

:headvswal

Sorry fella, just getting frustrated at what some people THINK is happening here and really isn't!

So from a trader with many years service, here's the plain understanding.

Mac has gone out and sourced companies who he believes offers Z dedicated services/parts FOR the members, now a quick look at the traders section will reveal that pretty mch every aspect of a cars parts/functions has been covered by companies. Now many of these companies sell similar or same items so the number in each catergory is limited ( i assume) however that said, NO ONE stops us from selling what parts/services we like. We all have websites and between us we have a "gentlemans" agreemant that we each sell certain brands evenly on the board and owt else through our websites or outside advertising, so members in no way miss out, forced to buy from certain traders and not others and you see no real problems on the board between traders. IMO Mac has done a great job with this and despite the fact i've given him earache from time to time as am sure others have, am aware of no problems or suffering to anyone. ;)

Now onto Luke, why oh why are people saying we're losing Luke and through the way this place is ran as well, erm we ain't and it's not!

ALL that has happened is Lukes fees are due for renewal, he hasn't renewed and from what he posted he feels he would rather not after having some posts deleated, ( i think) this does not in anyway stop him taking out a banner at the top and even if he didn't he's still a registered member free to post as when he feels. In all honesty Luke was never really here as he seldom posted and seldon used his traders area so he was simply using this as advertising and the club have offered him to continue with advertisng, FACT!

Yes he is on Zclub.net who have recently set up official traders sections but Luke has been an official adviser there for more years than i care to remember, so he hasn't just suddenly "moved over" to another forum either.

So please fellas and girlies, stop reading more into this that it really is as i hope the above explains.

cheers

Personaly i think the system works well ... it gives individual companies to supply goods AND expert technical knowledge in their field on the product being sold .. which means the consumer .. being you ... gets a quality product at a reasonable price with technical back up ..and the reasurance that must of us are Zed owners and just want to offer our fellow zedder a good deal, rather than 20 traders all selling the same thing for a "quick buck" and sod the consequencies when something goes wrong

Likewise, I'm happy... and I'm only posting so's you know the silent (happy) majority exist.

I agree with this system till someone gets seen off or has poor service

We are making it easier for the traders to be less competitive so the service should be above exemplary.

If there is not going to be competition then why have a traders section , just run a single shop with a book list of prices, let the forum run it and the supply of goods ( act as an intemediatry supplier) so members cannot get burnt.

Retro let Mac know where you got poor service and then the problem is usually sorted.

Have a free for all and there would be so many problem no TLO could sort them all out, but you would save a tenner here and there

HI to all new to the z scene 5 weeks ago, hope i dont get in trouble for my post if so sorry,

i`ve been reading all about this and in my eyes yes just click on lukes web site and the parts are still there just because there not on the fourm anymore dont mean we lose them. However under fair trading rules(but this is a members forum) companies can sell what they want to whom they want, this prevents a Monopoly where people can hold prices were they want because no one else can sell them meaning that certain parts could be more expencive? thus pushing people maybe in the wrong direction to source parts, at a fair price else where, which has it`s own drawbacks and problems. We sit on the fourm to help one another in car related problems and how to get parts from different places but it is a fourm on the 300 not a traders site.

My own opion i come on the site for help and advice parts and to talk and meet with other mad people from around our great country and a far, however people should sell what the want to prevent the Monopoly

thanks chris :)
