thats a good way to look at it. something to look forward to when i start taking some out at the weekend :hyper:

Yep but it's the auto's more like roller coaster than you think as your never quite sure when or if it is gona take off. Normaly to be had on corner exits where the last thing you need is a down change when yer not expecting it. Retain the drive control change the gears yourself :)

My opinion of course

Craig

"Never understood why someone would buy a sports car and then have automatic transmisson.Half of the fun of driving a quick car is changing the gears....."

Neither would I but some would argue that some variants of the Z are more of a Grand Tourer than a Sports Car - for cruising long distances and blasting pastpeople on the Mototrway in comfort rather than caning around a track. Thats why having an auto option is useful. In a VX220 for example, an auto would be silly.

Legarth - agree that 0.1 seconds is not much in the grand scheme of things nevertheless the auto IS faster to 100 and i think there is a misconception that the auto is much slower than the manual when it isnt (thanks to Nissan genius!!)

UK: adjustable suspension by puling handbrake up one notch

i never new this is this right

Not sure about all this insurance on imports/UK cars. I'm 27, 6 points, paying £500 fully comp on a TT Manual import (unlimted mileage). I seriously doubt I'd get a UK car any cheaper.

I'd sooner have a JDM car. As has been said, the bodies on them tend to be far better. Have seen some shocking rotten and scabby looking UK models. Tidy ones are few and far between.

Auto was never even a consideration when looking for a Zed. I'd have bought a Senator if I wanted something relaxing and smooth to drive.

yep, Sports and touring on rear shocks only, acitvated by pulling handbrake up 1 notch.

In the U.S they have a Sports/touring button on the dash

That's right, a good test is to go over some speed hump with the handbrake fully down then go over them with it clicked up one notch.. You really can feel the stiffness!!! :hyper:

There is also a little switch under the handbrake that sends it into stiff mode, but you can always fit a switch going off this to do the same job...

thanks i cant belive i had this car nearly three years and i didn't know that :mac1:

LOL - I love things like this - proves once again how brilliant the site is!!!

Also gives you even MORE respect for the Z - bet you cant wait to get out there and try it!!

how does this work i cant see any wires going to the shocks and are you suppose to drive around with the parking light on because my light comes on up 1 click

There are actuators on the top of the rear shocks, underneath the boot trim (if they are original stock UK spec shocks).

but what about driving around with the handbrake light on that dosen't seem right

thanks for the insurance number ultimatezorro, i'll give them a ring. so far there seems between 150 - 300 difference between UK/Import with insurers.

I also agree with sirmaxalot about this site, real info from real people not someone trying to sell you something.

The handbrake trick is only meant for diagnostics. The actuators should automatically switch to hard under heavy accelaration, but noone has been able to prove this from the electical diagram in the online manual  Try a search for "handbrake actuator" as there has been plenty of discussion about this on here ;)

'93 UK TT Manual

Wait a minute I just stripped and replaced the brakes on my Zed (import) if you pull the handbrake it brings the shoes onto the inner drum of the rear disk they pull on the rear struts like most cars thus sitting the back end down, I saw no actuators only a cable going to the handbrake are you sure your not just driving around with the handbrake on?

Odd

He's bloody right

Just looked on the manual I see there is a actuator.

i have done a search there was a lot of threads but reading them nobody really knows how it works some said lifting the hand brake was for diagnostics. if i drove aroud with the hand brake up wouldn't i do damage to the brakes
