Could someone perhaps advise me where on the VG engine it could possibly drop 3-4 litres of oil from within 30 secs?

Got in the car this afternoon, kicked it up, drove 10 yards and heard a liquidy hissing/spluttery noise, 20 secs later oil pressure dropped to 0, so pulled over.

looked in the road and theres a 50 meter streak of oil, a peek under the car and i saw a nice puddle of oil and it was all dripping off the subframe! :(

Ive had a good look underneath and I cant figure for the life of me where it all could have come from, and so fast :( any ideas?

Really had enough now, lots of time and money spent over the past couple months and my lucks getting as bad as birds.....seriously considering just breakin it :(

aftermarket gauge line, filter or its housing, feed to the tubs, its got to be a pressure sorce rather than a gravity sorce

I've had it in the past, all over my old mans new tarmac drive.

Blew the seal around the filter.

well 3-4 litres in 30 odd secs, gotta be a big pop somewhere :(

so im ruling out turbo feed pipes, even at 60psi dont think they could pump that much out that quick.

no aftermarket oil sender stuff on there, oil cooler pipes are on ok too

it all pumped out THAT quick too?

its a long shot but check the simple things first, ie-drain bolt

checked that too, just had a closer look and it seems to be coming from around the filter area from what I can tell

so maybe it is that filter, just wouldnt have thought it would throw that much out that quick

it all pumped out THAT quick too?

Almost emptied the sump in about 20 seconds.

I had just rebuilt my engine, it had all the oil pressure you could ever want as it was all new bottom end, then the pressure relief valve stuck closed and hey prestow, the old fella was fuming.

hmm could be that then...guess ill get a new filter and see

weird tho that it should pop a filter seal all of a sudden :(

as above if the relief valve stuck then the pump turns into a hydrolic (cant spell) pump and keeps building pressure untill the weakest link fails=rubber seal

great...so whats the course of action to check a relief valve thats always been just fine, anyone know?

you just answered your own question bud ;)

check out the return line from the turbo to the sump, on the turbo side there is a banjo bolt which should have 2 copper crush washers (either side of the banjo) or the hose itself.

Give it a good wash and see if you can see any oil first.

I'm not saying that it is a stuck valve, but just used that as an example on how fast a pump can get rid of your oil.

Your best bet is go for the simple and then start to scratch your head.

Check all your pipework, oil cooler, turbo feed pipes.

One thing I will say is, if it got rid of a lot of oil in a short time then it will be under presure and not just a leak.

well its not filter, not oil cooler pipes, not turbo pressure pipe, not turbo return pipe, so im stumped, theres no where else in that area that could blow that much oil out in such a short space of time....it did it again today, 10 secs worth of tick over and about a litre was spat out.

so i give up with it, will just buy another car and break this thing ive wasted so much money on.

get her up in the air, fill her back up and see if it leaks when stagnant. if it doesnt, get yourself some waders, a waterproof jacket, a waterproof balaclava and some goggles.... get a friend to turn it over a few times and if you cant see where oil is leaking at 1 ltr in 20secs then maybe you should look into gettin some presciption goggles ;)

doesnt leak when not running!

tried to do that already, and just cant tell, it just sprays everywhere from 'somewhere' on the driverside of the engine and thats as acurate as i can pin point it :(

refill with oil making sure you have the correct amount, and also clean the area with carb cleaner so when it leaks straight away you can see where its coming from, whilst car is off ground have someone start it whilst your under there, sounds like its coming from the oil filter tree region to be that much oil

well to be perfectly honest ive had it with it, its been sat in a garage for the best part of 12 months, and every time ive fixed something, its been out for a week tops and then something else has gone bust...over and over.

ive spent nigh on 3 grand in the past year just on keeping on top of the things going wrong, i could have bought another one for that...just have no faith in it now at all :(

just want one I can drive, reliably again, instead of this constant money pit in and out of the garage all the time.
