Have you got a Buck & Hickman close to you? I got mine from there for around £10-£12 +vat (they had to order it in for me but it was still a next day order).

Anyone know of a garage up here that will be able to get it out. I dont have a prob putting the new one in just getting the old one out. Noone in hartlepool will touch the zed F***ers.

Would the person who's borrowed my crows foot socket please remind me who they are and return it ... please .....

I had the same problem. I ended up putting too much force into it and ripping the thread. But as the o2 sensor sits into an adaptor I just replace that. £10 or something like that from MJP.

Keep trying m8, but do take your time or youll end up doing what I did.

Forgot to say. One handy way I foun was to cut off the wires etc of the old o2 sensor, remove as much as you can from the unit itself (some plastic covers come off). Then you can use a long socket to get over it. Use a long extension bar to get in there and a UJ on the end and you should get it out. But I would only suggest this if you have all parts incase thread rips, ie 32mm socket and long enough extension bars and UJs. Cos once you strip the o2 sensor like that instead of it just not running properly, it will struggle to drive/idle.

Goodluck with the sensor, they are a pain and there is no space. But thats a typical job on the Z

I bought a long series 22mm socket and milled a slott 3/4 down the length of one side, deep enough to pull the wires through. Far easier to use than a crows foot.

If you dont have access to a milling machine an angle grinder can have the same effect. Far cheaper!!

Kind of like this

If all else fails you can just get a hammer on it and smash the old one to bits until you are left with just the bit which screws into the boss. You can then just get a normal 22mm long reach socket on it. I had to do this on one of mine as it was as solid as a rock.

Its drastic, but it worked for me and I think it was someone on here that suggested it (so I can't be the only one thats done it :D )

Yeah i have cut the wires off, but still cant get a long 22mm socket on. Guess im gonna have to go at it with a hammer! lol

wooohooo done it. Had to use a hammer and chisel to break the o2 sensor down to the nut then just put a standard socket on and it snapped free and came out easy. Ive ripped my hands to shreads tho. Also found a fuel leak near the plastic cover on top of the engine. Tightened up the clips sorted. Over the moon. :D :D :D

Who ever said you need technical knowledge to work on these cars? Brute force and ignorance can get you there in the end!

Glad you sorted it mate.
