go with the mums statement, if he dropped it, the he was on your property, thats trespass, which is much worse.

Christ Simon! I know how you feel.

At least you're doing something about it.

I had my car vandalised by a couple of bored thirteen year olds with pipes and bricks (this is going back about two years now). I found out who the little buggers are, got the police around (who gave them and their parents a stern talking to) and then told me they can't do anything more than that! Insurance wouldn't pay for damage as there wasn't actual visual proof they did it. Kids came back a week later and keyed the side (again, observed by a "nosey neighbour"), the old bill didn't even bother coming around again and just said that they knew whe did it and it wasn't worth their while to do something as their "hands were tied" ... We moved away to our new house fairly soon after the incidents and haven't had trouble since but my blood still boils when I think about it.

Good luck with the legal route ... hope you get somewhere with it. These scrotes need to be taught to respect other people's property and be held responsible for any damage they cause. Be it inadvertent or deliberate.

Take care mate.

so the mum's saying he dropped it on your windscreen?!?! WTF was he doing by your car with a rugby ball anyway???

Kids like that need to be looked up, from the sounds of it he's a real probleme round your way, bout time he had a wake up call, as for the mother, she needs a fooking slap as well, ppl that cant control there kidsit really winds me up, if it was someone elses kid she'd be the first one round there shouting the odds. stick with it mate, hope it all gets sorted.

Ring the old bill back up and tell them you've just murdered the boy. I guarantee they'll pop round a bit earlier to take your statement ;)

and the conclusion..

they offered to pay the excess on the new screen to the old bill and they gave the kid a right b0ll0king.

i just went round and told here i dont want his money i just want an apology, all iwanted was the truth in the first place.

they said are you sure, i said yep. ( i dont belive in punishing anyone twice and i dont want anyones kid to have a criminal record for something as simple as that) so he apologised shook hands and left it at that.

im not a soft touch but i would never punish my child more than once for anything.

so i left it at that.. and all is fine, best thing is there is no animocity now.

the kid knows not to do it again or it will go to court.

auto glass will replace sunday and thats that.

;) make the little fooker polish your z every week on a sunday for a year si lol

Top man, I think that sometimes if you push then it comes back at you with bells on.

Its easy to blow and rant and rave, god knows i've done it more than once, but its not so easy to be fare and give the little sh!ts the chance to do the right thing.

Lets hope they see you as a fare bloke and show you that bit of respect that we all want.

Good on you mate, can you get him to polish my car to, and change the oil please as I've not been well enough to do it. :-)

Take the ball and stick it through her f-ing windscreen and plead the same excuse....
