Right I am looking into buying brakes (traders welcome to help here :) )

I am thinking about seeing if I can get hold of any brembo's for the fronts R33/R34, 350Z, Evo, Sti Scooby........

I know you need to get a bracket made up. I also know its an arse of a job to buy alloy wheels for our cars as the standard calipers are fat, how do brembo calipers compare in size thickness wise? I know you need to get a bracket made up.

Would it be easier to buy wheels for? (next job)

Whats the issue with interfering with the abs? do you get the vibrating pedal more frequently? warning light on dash etc...??

I have done a search but not really found anything concrete.

Cheers for any advise.

I've just fitted calipers and discs from a 350z (Brembo golds) and they were basically a straight bolt-on fit, well if you ignore the fact that you need to drill out the caliper mounting holes to 14mm (a really simple job with the right drill bit!!). The only word of warning I would give is that due to the offset of the calipers and discs for the 350 (I believe it is a different case for the r34 Brembo golds - from what I have read!) the calipers are brought a good deal closer to the inside of the wheel (I have aftermarket 18's which give about the same wheel-caliper clearance as std. You'll need 18's - not sure about 17's - to clear the bigger disc anyway). I, and I know of at least one other person also, had to buy 3mm wheel spacers to clear the caliper.

I can't yet comment on braking performance - I fitted braided lines and am using Motul racing fluid - as of yet, as I've still got to bleed the system!

I have the 350Z calipers (you also need 350 discs) and they fit fine. Braking performance is hugely improved and they will fit under 17" wheels.

If you do a search of my posts there's one from the r34 brembos that I fitted, with all the phots of the job. R33 are straight fit and cheaper because they are older and more worn. R34 require the bolt holes to be drilled out, a relatively easy (but a little worrying if you don't play with tools much as there is no return) job. And the performance is probably one of the best zed upgrades bar spending 3k on APracing calipers and discs or whatever.

Expect to pay 450ish for R33 calipers and around £800 for R34 or 350Z ones. Remember that whatever they say about any existing pads and discs with them, chances are you'll have to buy new ones which is about the same cash again, but essential to get the true performance potential.

I used the second hand ones I got with the calipers and they did the job for 3mths but were vibrating (slightly warped + fitting to a different car needs bedding in) badly at first and calmed down after a month or so. When I put smithy's DBA gold discs and porterfield pads on the braking performance once bedded in was awesome (bed in slowly so you dont warp them).

Many thanks chaps

Whats the issue with abs though??

I haven't decided yet if I will go ahead with the change of setup as I have seen some interesting packages from the states (not necessarly cos they cheaper but may be less hassle sourcing parts)

then these G3 to consider.....................etc etc ????

Just want to get it right with no regrets ( and I can't afford a 3k setup :( )

also remember that a skyline upgrade kit will also fit the zed ;) i bought the R34 AP kit second hand for just under £1k that had done 1k miles!! i just need either matching rears now or been looking at some alcon monobloc brakes

Nice buy!!

I have evo 8 calipers and 350z 324mm discs with brackets i had made up easy job and cheaper than all the other routes as there are evo 8 calipers on e-bay all the time.

How much did you pay mate? I was wondering about that when I got my skyline ones but I wasn't sure about the bracketry.

I paid £140 inc del for the calipers and £60 each for the discs from a local parts store and the brackets cost me £35 as a mate owed me a favour.

blo*dy hell, thats 10 times cheaper than my skyline setup, I wonder what difference there is between them. Obviously the discs are very different but I wonder how the calipers compare?
