 Anyone help?!!

My Zeds Taga top is leaking on the drivers side. Would silicone sealant do or would replacement rubbers be better ? Ive not even had the opportunity to get the top off yet and am scared that if I do I migh not get it back on in time for the rain

Where is it leaking from bud, best thing to do is take the top of and poor a small of water around the edge to find out where its leaking from. But you can buy black mastic sealent from a B&Q which will do the job, but if it's the targa rubber it's self best replacing it.

mine used to leak and I found that it wasn't leaking from the roof but from the rubber that sits against the drivers window glass, even though the water was dripping from the top of the A pillar.

When the window was up there was little or no contact with the rubber seal so water was getting in and running down the gap between the targa roof and the A pillar and then dripping on the drivers seat.

When i got my leather put in I decided to do sometging about it, and the solution was simple, I will go and take some pics now and put them up, see if its the same problem as yours.....

back in a little while....

Andy....

right take a look at the pics, my roof doesn't leak anymore, see if the problem i had is the same as yours, you may have to try out different positions for the strips, but it cost nothing and most importantly it works !!

cheers

I just used some rubber matting i had in the shed and cut it into strips, doesn't have to be rubber, anything will do to slip behind the original rubber trim, this forces the rubber trim out and gets the window to seal against the original rubber trim....

if you get stuck then i'll dig some more out and send it to you, the rubber I used was approx 2-3mm thick, worked a treat.........

stick some folded up paper in there just as a test, then pour water on the roof, see if it leaks, I tried it in a few areas and hey presto a result.

when you've found where to put something more permanent then drop me a PM and i'll sort some out for you.

cheers

Thanks for this..I'll take a look and see what I can do...I may have to ask you for some of your rubber strips..I'll let you know...

I’ll have to look at mine again, as it appeared to be leaking from the joint in the seal, but I guess that as the drivers door is probably used 10 times of more than the passenger door, the seal has been compressed too often, so packing it hopefully will fix it. I’ll give a go in the morning.

Check and make sure that your window is tight against the seal too. There is more than likely a bolt missing from within the door frame itself. Where on a series 1 there is the seat bolt holder. Open this up and tighten or replace the screw. Job done. Worked for loads I know now

How much success have people had with this? I've just put some strips in mine (cut from a manky rubber floor mat that came with the car!) so only time will tell. Mine wasn't too bad at first but after I took the targa apart to install some new trim it hasn't gone back together quite so well. Wet bum this morning :(
