Hi All.

oh s**t ,went past a plain cop car with a night time lazer last night at

112mph ,lucky it wasnt 2 miles earlier but anyway,I,m nicked, when pc bad attitude had finished his hypocritical little lecture he informs me I,m not getting a fixed penalty but am going to court and will get banned.

In my defence I showed him my speedo has just bust,it was a totaly empty

dual carrageway at 12.30 at night and if I loose my licence as a hgv driver

I will loose my job,did it help,NO.

What do you think licence lost or not, with a brief and lots of pleading?

TBH if people get caught speeding do we need to post it, accept what comes and stop blaming the police for your own actions.

Perhaps people should research some crime figures and persons arrested before they start talking about speeders being easy money, traffic police are only a small percentage of total police out their catching criminals. The only difference is people don't come on here and say "Oh, got arrested last night for burgling the neighbours house!" so you don't hear about the arrests just the speeders.

YEH

like the 85 year old woman with MS next door to me got burgled while she sat in her chair petrified Police did not even TURN UP.

But 5 months later some smack head scrote that got caught robbing a car stereo coughed to it and 254 other crimes and got 80 hours community service :headvswal

BUT WHAT THE FOOK, IT SORTED THE CRIMES SOLVED FIGURES

So you reckon that there are as many burglers as speeders?????????

You said its the only difference. :slap:

see if this helps anybody

Bad luck getting caught we play with fire long enough we get burned sooner or later. didnt know they had night mobile speed cams was lead to belive they need a picture of the driver or footage over a certian distance to get you. Also see attachment below see if it helps in any way.

Or maybe once youve been caught for speeding the police should check in your boot, might find more burgalars

It is only 70 where there is a central reservation it si 60 without one

Sure it is 60 when single carriageway, 70 when dual...

But if he had been doing 34 in a 30, the cops would have been all over him like a fookin rash....but solving a burglary does not generate revenue so they are not interested...

As much as i dont want to join this topic I have decided to.

1) your all 100% correct. I feel that more focus needs to be put on better policing, this includes burglarys, thefts, car break ins etc. and less on the motorist. isnt this why speed camaras have been introduced? this should have given officers a break from these speed crimes and allowed them to work on a more public protect and servce basis.

2) Speeding at high speeds often ends in a tragic way. You may be unaware at 100mph + of a danger around a corner or on the hard shoulder. I have attended many RTA's where this has been the case. And in honesty most were fatal.

You can be a confident driver, but there are others who arnt. The roads appear to be clear and vacant but a good point was made that a officer was on the roads as well. Despite him being unmarked or marked. He could have started to fall asleep, glided into your lane and caused a fatal accident. And you would be the main person to blame.

We all have fast cars, we all have gone over the speed limmit but just to finish speed does kill. that is a fact.

Cant believe some of the crap people talk, getting on their moral high horse about doing over 100mph then at the same time your on the forum talking about big turbos and go faster mods to your 3 litre twin turbo car.

Gud luck to you and i think your ban will be a few weeks so not too bad i hope.

I disagree, speed on it's own does not kill and that is a fact. Poor driving, bad conditions, lack of common sense etc kills but speed on it's own will not kill. The speed limit in my opinion needs to be raised but in line with other measures.

if it helps any i got done at 114mph and got 5 points and a £300 fine, they did take into account it was a sunday with low traffic volume and the weather was dry.

HTH

edited to say it was a motorway(if that makes a difference)

grrrrrrr  so its ok for a knobhead to drive past a busy school gate at 3.30pm when its full of infants and mothers trying to cross between parked cars at 30mph (which is 15mph to fast imho) and be within the law or for someone to drive in the early hours on a total deserted road (motorway included) with not a car in sight, driving a 160plus mph sports car at 112mph and end up getting there house repossed  Now iff i was a gambling man i know where my money would be for causing harm and sorrow

I am all for cutting the speed round schools. In Germany it is 20mph and if you get caught speeding in a school area you are seriously screwed....this is right.

Now on an empty road, I believe there is room for common sense and judgement...I personally do not think 112 on an empty road is a bad thing...I think this country needs to realise there is a program and we are not on it...

Wise words Angus.

Also as Vini posted, we all own very fast cars - cars that were built from the ground up to travel at over 150mph, having the chassis brakes steering and suspension to cope with it. There is a vast difference driving a car like the 300zx at 150mph, compared to driving something like a Mondeo V6 that by chance "happens to be capable of 140mph."

How many of us have exceeded 100mph or even taken their ZX to 150? Exactly - we've probably all done it where the conditions allow. I am also happy that at 150mph, my ZX feels safer and more controlable than many lesser cars do at 90mph and how many times do you see chavs in Corsas flying past at 90-100?

The fact is that speeding under the right conditions is not dangerous - it's inapropriate speed for the conditions and traffic volume that causes accidents, which goes hand in hand with bad driving. Many people I know regularly drive in urban areas, past schools at 40mph then complain when they get caught. Yet these people are horrified when I admit to 100 on a clear, dry empty motorway. Sorry but my 100mph in the right conditions is far safer than their 40mph - it's psycological for some tree huggers and they think I should be shot for that magic 100mph

However it is the law I'm afraid and whenever we do exceed the limit in such a way we must face the risk of prosecution. But as we've all done it, then let's just show our support for someone that could have been any one of us.

Good luck mate.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

its such a shame that our once great police force which used to be able to cuff sombody behind the ear and send them home for another one off the parents have their hands tied by loony left wing liberals and political correctness and no faced beurocrats in brussels , and even more of a shame that the traffic cops are now nothing more than blue suited tax collectors intent on persecuting the easy money segment of society .....ie you and me IMHO of course

Hi All .

Thank you all once again for the support and advice, keep your fingers crossed for me,

from what I can make out there is a good chance I may keep my licence but who knows ,I suppose it depends partly on how many similar cases the beak has had that day and whether or not they got their oats the night before.

But seriously I would like to make a few things clear to the people who think 112 is a really terrible thing to do,firstly I am a professonal driver with 20 years experence

and a clean licence, believe it or not driving a truck is very similar to driving a fast car

mainly because it takes so long to stop which is why I am thinking 1 mile ahead and with total concentration. The road was empty ,it was 12.30 at night and dry,but the main thing is THERE WAS NO VICTIM so how can I be a criminal, why should I loose everything for a crime with no victim when the real crims who had victims get a slap on the wrist. The law is an ass and I am not sorry so there.

By the way dewi that wasnt westlife I was playing in the truck it was a track called

F**k the law Its just therapy.

  • 2 months later...

speeding doesn't kill - crashing does! we've all done it, we know we could die, kill somebody else or just get caught, and i dont want to do any of those, but its hard to resist the devil that takes over your mind when you get behind the wheel of a mental car. i think you all agree.

shouldnt have let the twat catch up with you ................but honestly mate , plead your case heavily on the dependants side, people rely on your income BIG TIME, you are so so sorry really look dejected and as though you are ashamed and KNOW you are in the wrong , tell them you will sell the car anything , pay any fine but please dont ban me ( its a first offence i take it ?? ) tell them it was totaly out of your character as a professional driver to do that kind of thing lay it on tripple thick maybe you will get a suspended ban mega points and a huge fine only ...dont want to piss on your parade here or make things worse ..but for that kind of speed people have spent time behind bars ...........

keep my fingers crossed for you

god luck

Steve

next time u wanna go fast, take off your plates, and keep that foot down, doubt VERY much the police will have anything immediatley to hand that stands a chance :p
