Yes I know the idea is that the pigs are in hot pursuit but I get a ticket on every journey i do over 200 miles. No joke!

If I enetered the race I would have to win, no matter what! LOL

That would definately result in me being banned for a long time...

Also 2 lengths of the country would destroy my already Z battered bank account.

i am really keen on that lol, it would be real good fun, i would be so discrete, i mean they would only pull over cars with two exhausts lol, and ill notify them of all your plates he he he

Just to let you guys know, I am making some calls today to various places about sponsorship. Just a put the feelers out.

 

I think some of the garages and mods people on this forum should should offer themselves too, all for a good cause chaps!!

incidentally, i watched this on dvd last night

 

 

you need to try and organise a plan for how to dissuade people from breaking the law too much (to make it more appealing to sponsors)

 

so instead of a atraight sprint from one to the other, organise some key checkpoints along the way (tied in with the sponsor maybe ? petrol stations etc?)

 

measure the road distance between each, and the speed limits, and then get the perfect (legal) time for each stage .

 

this will add some skill to the event, but also much kudos will go to the person who just breaks all of the records

 

and how about making it run down country instead of up, so we finish somewhere sunny and can take the t-tops off over the finish line... in front of all the other clubs

I like the idea's!!

 

The North to South Really appeals too, I feel that we would get more interest if we we're to finish in the South on a beach with lots of young (19-26) nubile women in bikini's waiting for all the flash cars to come down....But I digress, I think most would prefer the North to South.

 

The checkin points have been discussed this morning, We could make a weekend out of it with a couple of stop overs along route but that would need to be looked into and the interest gauged too.

Would definetly be up for it but would rather not race as I need my license intack without any points. I know other runs that have been done have tried to stick to speed limits and the challenge was to navigate the most direct route missing road works, etc, between the check points. Which in terms of sponsorship maybe better as we will not be having a out and out race.

Exactly as you say, Not a race but a navigation between check points. No laws can be broken and will not be broken.

 

Sponsors will not touch us if we have the word race anywhere in our terms and conditions on Cannon Ball Run.

The Cannon Ball has been set in motion, I've had responses back from GT4OC and Mitsu. Lancer club who are both interested in taking part. So if you wanna be bigger and better than the competition you know what you gotta do!

 

All proceeds go to charity, Matty has suggested compiling a list of worthy charities then all cash made from sponsorship from the Clubs/forums/registers etc. will be split up equally.

 

Stop using the word RACE, this is a RUN not a RACE...if any rozzerz are reading this...we are not sanctioning a race in any way, shape or form!

My Mrs. suggested camping on stop-overs as opposed to hotels, cheaper for all concerned and more likely to find a few camp sites to accomodate the Cannon BallerZ than hotels...what do you think mate???

Best idea for along time!!

Twas funny babbling away to you last nite Tim, I was well Newcastled mate, but it was like a nightmare episode of Watchdog with the TT Tim telling dear old Glen Robinson tales of woe and dispair at the hands of the merchant garages.

And Im sure it prickles the neck hair on all the forum, and unknown viewers.

But - as preveious replies have said plod = points. These cars are awsome and they stick out like a cow in Cumbria. Never mind all the other car clubs interested.

And lets face it our show at billing was the biggest there. So it is a club now. As said by a microphone weilding Billing official!

But it would be great, camping sites might have to be the way to go. Who on earth in there right mind would put us lot up in one town, never mind one hotel. (Especially when the Tooley finished his tarmac port folio).

As for sponorship just contact comic relief get a pack on how too, go with - it or use their advice then do a vote on whos is to benifit!

As for the timed thing, its the best way. The only people to gain from an out & out race are the -stand backs- (bookies). I was there when the M25 thang was done, fiasco.

The winners were the courts & the insurance co's later.

If we want big publicaty & £'s for a charity we need to get TV coverage, the fun can come in the overnights, & looks.

 

Just a thought or to, pick bones at will.

But this could be the biggest Japanesse sponserd run in Europe.

Excellent, GT4OC are mad for it and are added to our mailing list, but here's the icing on the CannonBall Run cake...Mitsu. Lancer club reckon they can make maybe 30 or more cars...come on guyZ...we're orgainising this and gonna be shown up by only having about 4 carZ there...LMAO!

I would drop the 'Cannon Ball Run' name, as sponsors and insurance companies would run a mile in the other direction.The main interest would be, from the Police and local councils, trying to ban it!

It would only take one accident or piece of adverse publicity...To the authorities 'Cannon Ball Run'would = 'Midnight Racers'!
