hhhmmmm thats a tough 1 that cos i know he loves his car but you need to think of what its worth breaking it and what its worth if he fixes it plus hes just spent a fortune on the manual conversion ,its up to you bird if you can do the work yourself then keep it cos you'll save loads of money.

or why not go and get the lad-that sold him this shitter (he must have knew) and make him refund birds cash and motor

I think that we should get a club weekend together( bird to put us up...lol) and do a makeover stylee on his car...I dont have the knowledge for a engine change but a lot of ya do and I could swing the spanners for the monkey work

I must say I feel for the poor guy. He has really been having a hell of rough time with his Zed. Now that his MOT has run out he doesnt have a lot of options. The guy who sold it to him needs "visiting".

These cars, like so many others are loved for what they are. Any car can go up it, and lets hope no others on this forum go through what bird is right now.

 

I think as a collective we could all offer bird some support, whether it be time, expertise, space for work to be done, or donations.

 

Lets all pull together and give the bloke a hand.

I really do believe we should spend a weekend at birds helping the guy out, Lets make it a big Z meet and publicise it as good stuff for the website if needed, a few hundred Z's turning up should get publicity for any garages willing to help out, or if its even just a few good mechs and a few spanner monkeys turn out we should be able to do something for his ailing Z

deffo agree, we all need to suggest the best advice/options which will help him decide which route to take, plus in my opinion he shouldnt break it because he has done to much already manual conversion etc & will not recoupe all the money he's spent to buy another decent zed,also i think bird bought the zed from another member on here, so may be he new of some problems, what ever he chooses to do lets wish him luck & not forget most of us have been in similar situation with our zeds no matter how big/small problem is it can get very frustrating at times even tho its only a car.

Why don't we have a bi yearly event to help out people in need, guys like bird. Maybe do a sponsored beer drinking fest or something, or get everyone from the Z world going to jap fest or jae to put an extra couple of quid into a pot and hand it over.

at the end of the day all bird wants is to experience driving his Zed when everything is running sweet (something he still hasnt been able to do) this must be so frustrating for him, but he's prepared to stick with it and get it sorted.

Yeah the poor sods had one thing after another with his car, we have the people and the knowledge to be able to do something about it and help one of our guys out, lets do it.

 

I know my way about a Zed a bit but not that well. I can however bring a few cases of beer and hand them out while stumbling about and keeping people entertained. While at the same time guessing about whats wrong with the car.

 

But really if we can sort something out to help the guy out, count me in.

Problem is that might cost just as much as another (better) zed (although I can't say that for sure). I agree with StellaZ though, bird's taken a lot of crap over this with extremely good humour, so let's lay off for a while. Bird, feel for you mate: my previous car managed to empty my bank account in a very short period of time indeed a couple of years back with everything seeming to go wrong at once, and that was just a Renault.

Anyway, with regards to all the piss taking - i really dont mind, it keeps me entertained to be honest and i think that helps me keep a smile.

so i dont mind, take the pee all ya's want as long as its in good humour :D

 

Anyway back on topic, i dont really want to scrap the car as like a couple of you said the car has had alot spent on it and i'd hate to feel even more like its been wasted than i already do.

 

The other problem im now coming up against is that i have spent so much on the car its becoming where i cant afford to do it anymore, when it is fixed though it'll be like new :D

LOL, get rid? Bird's is in mint condition compared to my car when I bought it, although I did buy mine with the intention of fixing it up.
