With the alloy bells just over £600,The calipers you see are stock, but not for long as I am fitting some Skyline R34 Brems wink.gif.And yes R34 calipers do fit a Z wink.gif.

Lovely discs.

What diameter?

Have you got the discs on the right side?

Surely that grooves are supposed to throw debris outwards, not put it into the centre of the hub? confused.gif

I agree with Jezz here, Mac1 have you got the discs on the wrong way around?

Simon.

330mm x 35mm,LMFAO biggrin.gif no they are not on the wrong way round they have arrows showing the way they rotate, like you have on a ZR rated tyre wink.gif.

Are you sure MAC1? wink.gif

Seriously they look very awkward like that, like a deformed child perhaps.

I think you should go out in the cold and wet to check.

Does the other side look the same? Perhaps they sent you two LHS discs. PML smile.gif biggrin.gif

WillyEd did you get the injector? Any use?

330mm, did you have to get brackets made up for the calipers?

I'd better check my buggers before I put them on then. Sorry for doubting you MAC. smile.gif

It's quite unlikely that 2 of you will have done it wrong.

Quick question, is the brake hose fitting on the caliper a banjo connection or a screw in nipple job?

Jezz.

There are no banjos on my calipose wink.gif.

Guess you aint putting 15's on for track days Macca.

Looks the bollocks mate.

The usual concensus for fitting grooved discs is, less than six grooves - Point into the caliper.

More than six (which is pointless wink.gif) point out of caliper.

40 groove tarox, point to the bin hehe joking! but 40 groove why why. heheh

Mac were these the discs I saw a while back custom made by some fella or something?? they look quite good indeed!

A variety of calipers can be made to fit, you just have to know the right people to design you a suitable mounting bracket for the calipers.

Ay3388 the discs are Wilwood 330mm x 35mm,I had the bells made by a guy that has been involved in this stuff for a very long time,He drove the car today and he said you could not ask anymore from them, they are the bollocks!!!The advantage I have got is that they measure 35mm thick,so they will get rid of the heat in the vent and will take some warping,If you know much about brakes you will know that Wilwood discs are used in Nascar.I will be fitting some Brembo R34 calipers on in the next few weeks.

blitz.jpg

Nice, there is plenty cooling in the 35mm (!!)width, how many vanes are in there??

I would assume 30ish ++, I notice you arent choosing wilwood calipers?? wonder why wink.gif hehe

Maybe I underestimated skyline caliper capacity at being able to take 35mm discs, they are quite good indeed! (NB I do know Skyline Brakes are very good, but they are still road car brakes, maybe they are better than I presumed.)

Anyhoo, must go.

See you

Ay3388

I was the person who designed and made the kit that you seen on that photo. I can tell you that they are 6 groove and i think 48 vane. I chose willwood disks because of there reputation in the States and the fact that I could get them off the shelf here even though they are from the USA. AP racing do not hold any stock of racing rotors when I phoned I would have to wait weeks for them to be made and I was wanting to get started on making the bells and brackets. The stock Z calipers that me and Mac are using had to be split and shimmed 3mm to take the extra width. The R34 calipers just need a small adjustment with a file to take the 35mm disk.

I am no expert on brake systems but I do remember from my street rod days that it is quite a science based on master cylinder displacement, pipe bore, pedal travel, piston size etc...its not just about who has the most 'pots' or grooves.

Even with stock calipers with carbon kevlar pads Mac can hit the brakes at 130 and it nearly pins you to the screen, standard Z brakes fade badly when breaking hard from 100 so this is good enough for me for a road car

I agree with you on the novelty brake disks that are available that are really aimed at the Nova GTE boys.

If you want to see really poor brakes check out the un-servo'd 2 pot setup on my 5.7l Ford Pop. Now that was fun to stop biggrin.gif

Tim I am so pleased with this conversion, and did not think that the end result would be any where near as good as it is wink.gif.

commerciallity(is that a word? Ajay???)

As you asked...no, it isn't. biggrin.gif Although get enough people to say it often enough and it will become a word....

"Cowabunga" first entered the Oxford English Dictionary as "an expression of surprise" rolleyes.gif

"Commercialism", on the other hand, is a word. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
