i work at ford as a painter next door is nissan, my cambelt was done 2 day. wen paul the mechanic was running it on the ramp it stalled .he got it going again test drove it & said it was sweet and handed it 2 me.i drove home 5milesish and wen slowing in traffic and then accelerating off again the revs dropped from 1k to 500 & every time the engine nearly stalled. i got home the revs increased to 2k the fan was cutting in and out and it sounded like the fuel pump was pulseing. i stopped it and it wouldnt start left it 30 mins & eventually it went drove it back 2 work & it ran sweet as aa nut . HELP WATS GOING ON

Glad you've sorted your Z.

 

I think it is just a case that your problem isn't something we come across frequently and it did initially sound as if it might be cambelt related.

yeah Col, Steve has hit the nail on the head here i think.

 

Some problems are just oo difficult to diagnose without being proper mechanics.

 

And as you had just got a new timing belt, it would appear related.

 

Most of the help on here comes from having experienced the problem first hand.

And now, if someone posts with a similar problem to what you had, it would be fair to assume you could offer a possible solution from the benefit of having had it happen to you.

 

That's what it's all about.

 

Just to add my 2p,

 

I appologize for not answering your post, Basically the reason that you didn't get much help is because hesitation problems that you descibed are often very hard to diagnose and require a huge list of things to look at.

 

If you have looked at the wiring loom in the Z32 engine bay you will see how many sensors there are that can fail.

 

In future if you have a problems with Revs dropping off and stalling, i suggest you read thru this TECH artical on :

This covers a lot of the problems that cause stumbles and stalls.

 

Another thing i suggest that you get to grips with is Performing a ECU diagnostic.

check twinturbo.net (link above) and goto TECH.

 

If i had seen your post and had time to answer my recommendations would have been to check the PTU, do a ECU diagnosis, Clean the Coolant Temp Sensor, and failing that Take it to nissan for a Consult test and Changing the Fuel filter and Plugs.

 

Sorry it didn't work out for you, but glad to hear that you got it fixed in the end. We are not a elitest bunch here by a long shot, most of us are serious car enthusiasts who try to help everyone out when they can.

fair cop guys, i will try 2 post some pickys of my ride after ive resprayed it. i was going 2 put a set of 18" enkei but funds r low the wheels r in 4 me my mate imports rims from the states.

wen i have sorted some cash i will be looking out for a big mumma stainless system wat would u blokes recomend.

Hopefully if we get a summer and a couple of meets this year its probably best to stick yer lug against some other peoples pipes and see what you think, Thats what I want to do.

However I wont change mine untill there is more exhaust bandage than metal..

I would like to hear the difference that these X and H pipes make has anyone got them?

just logged on and read your messages im a newcomer to ZX and to this site as well but i can assure you these guys do offer help not found elsewhere i`m sure you were just unlucky when you posted your request keep logging on.

 

i know this is biased but my wife/and myself recon my 5 inch exhaust sounds the best lol

besides i can change intercoolers from inside my exhaust!

 

 

ure all wrong johnnys and mine together going throuh the tunnel at manny airport would scare old ladies and little children they are that good

Its not that loud but has a really smooth sound to it as it is two into one i think

 

No I have the best exhaust of all. It removes exhaust gases from the engine and also cooks my dinner.

 

Mine must be the best as you could probably fit an entire banana plantation inside and has a superb firing mechanism for un-burnt fuel...

hes fitted 18" on a few mazda mini trucks and may b puting a set of 20" on his body dropped astro

if u boys want 2 b diffrent get a set of rims from the states they arnt cheap but they look good
