Who has got HIDs fitted?

Where did you get them? (links please)

Were they easy to fit?

Did you have to re-wire them so they stay on with full beam?

Thanks, Mike...

FYI: DTA-Motorsport sell what is probably the best quality aftermarket HID kits. On a 300ZX they are truly plug-n-play, no modifications required at all and the install is completely reversible in a matter of minutes. The kits are available in 6000K and 8000K and the club price is £250 + £10 delivery.

These can be installed by a novice or I can install them for you at a fee.

i'd like HID's, but no way on gods earth ill ever pay that amount for them.....

i'm the same as t-pot

Handsome?

I paid around that for mine - it was worth every penny IMHO. The original headlights on my Zed were rubbish and I did not feel comfortable driving in the dark.

So basically it was a case of spend £250 or crash !!

If you do any amount of night time driving then it's worth it, period. People probably spend nearly as much to get their headlight housings chromed!

All I need to do now is the full beam mod when I get time.

I have H.I.D lights bought from Chris GetGreddy they are very good and a huge improvement on stock lights, I fitted them my self as they where just plug and play. I mounted the ballast boxes under the light units them selves. I have 6000k as any higher and it just makes the lights a bluer tint.

An essential mod TBCO before winter 2006. Now where's the kids piggy banks..................

Same here, got mine from Outlandermotorsport's group buy the other winter, but would recomend 4000k, but these tend to be quite a bit more expensive than the 6000k ones! One of the most expensive mods on my car at the time, but not anymore though  :D

I have these too - but I also got mine from Outlander.

Very easy DIY mod and the group buy in December 2004 was worth it at £200 a set

Definately a super upgrade - will think about doint it to my SLK as well.

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Wot Richard says, I copy that.

IIRC they were less than £200. £180??

Anyway they were well worth the money.

I only drove my Zed once in the dark. I was so worried by the lack of vision I bought the lights the next day.

I did the Chrome inserts on the last group buy too. Total including all shipping was £105.

They may increase the light SLightly?? I dont believe they do but for £105 it was a cheap bit of bling!!

And I normally dont do bling! LOL

They started off at £190, then if there was enough interest he would drop the price to £180, but I paid up before the price was dropped and never got the extra £10 back! Reminds me of someone else on here ;)

Deffo one the best mods i've done and would be totally lost without em, literally :D

smithy

Sounds about right - it was a long time ago, but I knew it was around the £200 mark....... :)

I think it was a CL600 but most top range merc,s have em , took a fair bit of mods to fit them but i was stripping my lights to repair the adjusters and paint the bezels anyway , so did them all in one go

I had to fit the merc bulb holder in the zed headlight , bit of cutting and grinding and hey presto !!

Below are the bits robbed off the merc lights.

I repair alot of merc,s at work , perk,s of the job !!

Definitely a good investment. £120 off Ausi Ebay and brilliant, would not drive at night otherwise. Dead easy to fit, plug and play, but now need a set for the main beam which is also rubbish compared with the HID's. Yes, is does require the mod to maintain dipped beam when switching to main...........

Just fitted mine after going all winter with them in the garage & no time to fit them. I should have done them earlier as they only took me ten mins max. They are truely plug & play for £120 delivered. I would strongly recommend them to everyone.

Is it the same as the normal bulbs that if you earth them to the body and not to the loom that they stay on when you put full beam on?
