iv done a couple of these there fine to do . somtimes may need to drill the bushes out first then drive out the sleeve other than that they take time but not to difficult.

Thanks I will get the drill out tomorrow.

If the rear subframe bushes arent leaking go for the whiteline subframe locking pinapples these lock the rear subframe hard up to the chassis easy to fit no need to drop subframe completely just undo the nuts and washer cups and fit .You can get these from demontweeks about £50.Ive fitted rear subframe bushes before on s13 and s14 and have been a complete bitch/ drills/ holecutter /sledgehammer/ blow torch /hacksaw /.Ive fitted these pinapples to mine in half an hour.

Sounds very interesting Taff, I have a spare subframe thats in the garage and I am having it powder coated once I remove the old bushes. I will look into those.

sorry to be nosey, but how much did you pay for a complete subframe?

(roughly)

Nothing I had it given to me from a kind member

I used a 3" hole saw, did the job in no time at all, If you dont have a press you can then cut through the remaining shell with a hacksaw, down the length of the body. Once you have cut through the skin it will peal inwards and fall out.

Expect transmission noise in the car once done, the vibrations can no longer get absorbed in the old liquid filled bushes. Its not loud but noticable.

Andy

No mate not the metal collars there for hard core drifters loads of diff noise with them fitted .I mean yellow polly pinapple bushes but if your going to replace the original nissan bushes then i dont think you need to bother with locking rings.Power flex sell the rear bushes these are split in 2 peices with a metal tube in the middle and easy to fit there the same as s13/s14/skyline/.Nismo also sell them but there in a metal casing the same as the orginal and look the same as the orginal and a pain to fit press needed.Whiteline locking pinapples just save the factory bushes from getting knackered and stifen up the back end.

Hi Taff,

Where can we get them - and do you have the part number etc. handy?

MAny thanks.

AndyGP :)

Iain,

I've got these Z1/G.D subframe spacers on mine as I had a couple of leaky bushes and wanted to tighten things up and hide it from the MOT man ;)

Think they're the same thing Taff is on about.

But at the moment the car is all over the road and I'm hoping it's just the HICAS arms that need replacing and not these spacers that have squashed the already leaky bushes too much.

Will be putting the arms on in the next few days if I get chance and hopefully the car will be handling sweet again.

No there not made of metal there polyurthane demontweeks £50 ish .

I have these. They do work as a bandaid to worn subframe bushes, but they also offer less bodyroll and less wheel-hop when accelerating by getting rid of the inherent play in the floating rear subframe. They really firm up the handling at the rear, without really comprimising ride or noise. Everyone has them in the states, top product !

It's ages since I fitted em and the car was off the road so I never noticed what effect they had.

Do they lock the subframe completely even if the bushes are shot?

I'm hoping my subframe doesn't need to come off and the terrible/dangerous handling is just the hicas arms that I know are fooked and not a full set of bushes.

SPL do solid ALI bushes to replace the stock ones completely. Prob best for big power car if you can live with the noise.

It's not too bad unless you run a plate diff.

Yup, make a nice difference to the handling, and not much (if any ) noisier then the poly bushes i had in the LWB.

Poly rear subframe bushes are well worth fitting Iain, did my S13 ones and you really notice the difference in grip, the car feels more planted. Makes the car noisier though. Along with the 5" powerflow, short shifter, Nismo engine and gearbox mounts my car is noisy and vibraty as feck now :p

Thanks retro 620ti im glad someone knows what im talking about whiteline subframe locking kit .

I am going to be replacing my subframe bushes with Energy polyurethane bushes, and while i'm at it also diff carrier, rear control arm bushing set and rear sway bar frame bushings. A mate is going to do it for me as it is too much of a job for me.

the subframe kit is a piece of piss its a matter of undoing the bolts fitting these and refitting the bolts, changing the subframe bushes is a major pain in the rectum.
