In all honesty i dont know as i hadn't fixed the air leak before the bov's were fitted and it was then struggling all the time but in all honesty i hadn't noticed it as bad before they were fitted

Sounds like the BOV's could be contributing to this, try to refit them, but really as I said before get it on a Boost leak tester/conzult.

old/faulty or wrongly gapped spark plugs can also cause weird problem at higher revs, but normally it only occurs under boost.

Might be worthwhile to check anyway.

I have just been given a lend of a boost leak check

And i am waiting for the datascan to come, only ordered it last night though.

Im starting to think it could be the BOV's, but noone else seems to have any problems with them.

well my det sensor is bypassed mate.

and no error codes.

and its uk spec so shouldn't have a limiter should it?

ok im thinking of bypassing my det sensor, do you get any additional problems with the car or is it okay?

this may be a stupid question but what is a datascan thing, an how much do they cost

Alot of people will say you shouldn't really do it as the det sensor is there for a reason which i do agree with ,

however with me spending so much it was pretty much my only option.

hope this helps mate

just read all the thread, this is what i personally would be doing now...

replace bovs with stock UNTIL probs are sorted, trying to mod an engine with a problem is like trying to ice a turd, pointless and a waste of good icing.. (no disrespect meant here bird)

check plugs again and make sure gaps are spot on, also i ONLY use NGK, the best there is my a mile...

get injectors professionally cleaned out, and replace ALL dodgy connectors...

check coil packs and do what u can with them, look for leaks, cracks and general condition...

sounds to me like one of 2 things, either the spark is weak or the fuel isnt getting thru...

take off all mods u've done til u get the problems sorted out mate, if ur not confident doing all this get a pro to do it for you, and give it a good going over, usually a well recommended garage can sort this sorta thing out pretty quickly...

hope this helps, and hope u get sorted..

T

p.s. why have you binned the det sensor, surely this is unwise??

Non taken mate.

I have checked the plugs and they are fine.

checked the coil packs and everything too.

i definately need the connectors so that could be causing a problem, may not be fueling correctly but i am getting about the right mileage though.

The only mods are the BOV's and Air filter.

General condition seems to be quite good, cant see any leeks but ill double check for that.

It might be an idea to take off the BOV's and see if it is hem or not.

im trying but ive kind of put so much in to it now its just becoming annoying.

i should have the datascan in the morning though . . . apparently

so that will bring up things like the O2 sensor.

Just got to hope it works

Ive already spent alot of money as my sig says but thats just what i can remember, its probably more but only a little bit i think

O2 sensors can cause stuttering at 5000 revs but the root cause on mine was traced down to a leaky intercooler. If there is an air leak in any part of the turbo systems - piping, intercooler etc it can cause hesitation and stuttering of engine response. A conzult test looking at the Mass Air Flow Sensor graph results should indicate an air leak if there are abrupt spikes.

I reset my O2 sensor learning every week with my Conzult. Seems to keep the engine smooth, but i could be imagining it!

About £60 each i think but you have to be sure that its those rather than an air leak in the turbo systems

YOUR WORDS (Oh, i forgot to tell you that we found one of the big problems!

You know the 4 big turbo pipe thingies, well one of them wasn't on properly so most likely thats why it was sometimes cutting out and also a big leak)

You did fix the above problem?
