Hi guys

Been modding my Z. What is the maximum boost/bhp can the internals (pistons/con-rods) take, before you need to replace them.

The reason i ask is, i am thinking of fitting 555 injectors and bigger tubs, but would like to leave the main engine for the moment. The car had a new Nissan engine install 3 years ago, about 5000 miles. seems a shame to replace.

Can anyone advise?

Looking on some U.S. performance sites like Z1 motorsport, they do performance packs where they supply bigger tubs etc. But no mention of replacing internals etc.

Even 600 HP pack. Is this correct?

Regards

Kev

The VG30DETT is a strong engine.

few things that can destroy it in just a few seconds are:

-detonation

-overheating (esp. coolant/oil)

-low oil level or bad oil.

if you can protect it from those, an engine in good shape will be able to handle a LOT of power

I have just read the 400bhp pack. What is a JWT pop charger. Doesnt sound like 400bhp to me though that is basically what I have but I doubt I am 400bhp, maybe 320 if I am lucky.

thats american bhp for you!

in my opinion about 400-450 bhp depending on the condition of the car, i was running around the 450 mark with stage 2-3 tubs etc and running around 18psi and i split a piston, no det etc just too much for it ;)

toftdale....you're in Worcester. I've seen a zed, think it's grey or burgundy, can't remember now, parked close to the Citroen Garage. That yours?

As mowgs said it is US BHP and its way out!

So when I go to America in July I could say that my Z has 400bhp, but come back to reality after a couple of weeks and slap myself about a bit, to knock some sense into me??

Its not just Americans who over estimate, I spoke to a guy about his Fiesta Zetec-S which done 0-60 in less than 7 seconds and the only modification was an induction kit. I told him I was too scared to race him, cos I would just get shown up from him. :xxx:

lol my mates got a zetec-s - its slower than me girlfriends sportka!

its not just the fact that stock internals cant handle more power, but if you expect 10 year old components with 80000 miles done on them not to break when you greatly increase the power then you are bonkers! :wack:

& if your replacing the parts then you may as well get uprated parts!
