Hello all again.

 

Some of you may know me from ages ago - my names chopper (mike), and i used to have a rather quick sexy black NA manual @400BHP with NOS etc.

Well after a GTR32 (366BHP) UKd1 winner, a honda ITR (supercharged) street race winner, a Matt Black 330hp Scooby (got nicked two weeks ago) im back to Zeds again.

 

And i must say i have well missed them !!

 

I got a TT auto the other day from a friend of mine, that has a suspect head gasket fault :( It wont start, and when he tried to start it, fumes came out of the rad cap (suggesting HG) then it would nt start again. ALso on checking the oil and water - both were empty :rolleyes:

 

ALso the local pikey scum have bricked the side windows !! Bonus

 

But as soon as i saw it i fell in love.

 

I got the car for nothing - and it had a brand new mongoos exhaust (not to my taste) cat back/ The rest of the car appears stock. Its tatty as hell as its been owned by one of those Z drivers who is a giant penis and doesnt respect it.

Now i for one know that 300ZX's can be an absolute money pit - and a couple of my homies have told me to break it, but i simply cannot break a black 300zx - no matter what, i love them

So im hear to ask you guys your informed opinion. Do i ......

 

1. Break it - leather interior, targa roofs, etc etc

2. Summer project - keep it in the garage, and take out the engine and try and fix the heads - see what other probs its got (probably many) - my g/friend want to do this one as she wants to get to know more about the insides of engines and turbos etc, plus she would look great coverd in oil !!

3. Try and source a manwell box and recon engine, chuck it all in and off we go

4. Fx the engine, then cams, ecu, stripped interior, suspension, rollcage, 1 bar boost increase 400bhp drift machine ??

 

Money is a key issue with this one - whatever i throw at the car i will have to save up for, as these days i have no disposable income :( (new home/woman etc) lol

 

Sorry about the story - but its great to be back, hope some of you remember me (in a good way :smash: ) Some of you guys helped me loads with my NA, and it ended up being the most powerful in the UK - so now lets try the TT !!!!

 

Any help would be much appreciated

It sounds like you should break it mate, at least that way you can make some money back to buy a tidy well looked after Zed. If the car has been abusied it could just be a money pit that your forever trying to fix.

keep it , rebuild it , too many zeds are being broken for spares to recoup money i think its such a pikey thing to do to such a lovely car unless its to fund another zed IMHO

Glad your back mate, I was amazed by the things you dis to your last Z. I think you should do this one up also.

If you have the knowledge to fix her and you dont mind waiting and doing it on a bit by bit basis fix her up what great satisfaction you will take from resurrecting the dead by the end you can stand back and say I made that to many of these great cars have been abused and then thrown to the wolfs it would be nice to see someone fix one up from nothing go for it mate see you in 2007 at a meet with a nice shiney zed :D

i wouldn't want any z to be broken up.

if you have the time and money do her back up. if not the inevitable must happen.

Welcome back Mike :cool: If you've got the time to devote to it, I'd push ahead rather than break her bud. If you do this will you factor in a manual conversion or stick with the auto? ;)

Hello mate, Havn't seen you in a while. I'm up in Kent now. What sort of condition is the bodywork in with regards to metal-worm? I reckon its easy to spend the amount of money reconditioning as you would on another good nic car. Then again if the body is sound and you put a new (plus modded?) engine, manwell gear box, etc you'd have an awesome machine. Dave

 

ps Good to see you here, you left about the time I joined if I remember right.

the way i'd look at it is engines are repairable/ swappable, rust isnt't (I know it is, but I personally wouldn't go down that avenue). Ryan at ZTech is doing a good deal on refurbed engines - so given that the car was free, you could have a decent motor fairly cheaply.

 

If the body's tidy and the rest is 'cleanable' then definitley do it up - you're not going to get enough from breaking it to buy an immaculate one, and it wouldn't give you the same satisfaction!

cheers guys - ello dave !! Body work has no rust whatso ever !!

 

But im tempted to opt for a MK3 supra too and go the T4 way for 350 hp. I love mk 3's cuz there are hardly any around that look mental - same reason i like Z's !!

 

So im torn

 

Think im gonna keep the Z and get some quotes for a new / recon block. Then spemd 100000 dolla again lol.

 

I hear what your saying about selling it for bits - a decent Z is 3k + (5 really) and i aint gonna get that. But it means i can chuck 3k at it and see what happens i suppose !!!
