Can anyone recommend a decent replacement horn ? I was driving along today and had to beep and everyone looked at me on the high road and laughed !

Soo f**king embarassing ! I had to hide !

Why put a road runner horn in a 300ZX ?

This beep beep has to go.

Any ideas ?

Would like a butch horn but easy to fit.

Nothing wrong with the stock horn, but must be like mine which has begun to sound like meep meep, I've ordered a replacement from andyTT, a trader on here.

They often sound embarrasing because one of the two has become disconnected. Easiest way to check is:

if you haven't got mesh in your bumper

(1) look through the airdam opening towards your fog lights

(2) feel around the back of the horn to ensure the connector is firmly on

if you have mesh in your bumper

(1) take the corner indicator unit out

(2) stick your hand through the opening and feel around for the horn (just past the fog light) and feel for the connector

Failing that get some new ones and wire them up. Most motorfactors have horns and it should cost more than around £15 for a pair.

I got some Ferrari horns (of a breaker) on mine :D

Mine still work and they sound awful. Sounds like a horn from a Datsun Cherry.

I want rid of mine as it's embarrasing. Just sounds like a crap car, not some beast. Sounds silly, but most late 90s Vauxhalls had really good loud dual tone horns. Not very big either so will fit someone away from the eyes quite neatly and they aren't going to cost much more than a few quid at a scrap yard.

Any decent motor factors and get set of twin (or triple) air horns. FIAM are pretty common. Costs about £15 for twins, £18 for triples. Even the dreaded Halfrauds flog em.

I ran a direct fused feed from the battery to mine and a made a simple bracket to hide em in the front.

Only down side as with any air horns is you need to prime the res before first use otherwise they squark a little til the pressure builds.

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

...just put a pair of PIAA sports horns on mine. Very loud £27 for the pair.

They're very compact twin air horns. I have two sets on my other car, i.e. quad air horns. They encourage people to pay attention, especially when combined with 115db of V8 bark. :)
