Im getting a FMIC as i have blown my stock ones.... i have a HKS winging its way to me, but after doing some research i found that some FMIC (not the HKS one) mess the turbo feeds up, as in stock they work:

Left turbo right bank

Right turbo left bank

apparently to do with balancing etc......

so my question is...... what other intercoolers keep the standard flow? or is it just HKS? or have a fooked up and miss read something?

Cheers again :duffer:

i think youve got that wrong bud the left turbo feeds the left side mount and so forth and its balanced on the plenum with the balance bar funny enough ;)

Correct young Kirbz ! :)

cheers mate nice to be called young lol

cool.. thanks a lot guys... so any FMIC will keep things the same?

AFAIK the problem comes with the inlets and outlets, whose position depends on whether the two intercoolers are joined horizontally or vertically (since the front mount is made from 2 separate i/cs). So, you need to make sure the in/ out pipes are in the right position to avoid crossover.

No, the HKS 1 keeps the same i.e. left turbo to left bank, right turbo to right bank because they are mounted on the left and the right and imho is the right way to do it.

Apollo and arc and any other front mount intercooler kits I have seen are mounted top and bottom and IMHO is the wrong way to do it as you have balancing issues to consider as each turbo is feeding the opposite side's bank.

Hope that helps and yes you have the best 1 available  Am looking for 1 myself and just missed this lol !

cheers Olly... though i was loosing it then as i was sure i had read someting about this!

so HKS is the way to go

Yes matey HKS all the way and I believe you will notice a vast improvement with the spec your running over the small standard plastic ended pieces of crap Nissan decided to put on them lol ! I don't think they'll blow up quite as easy either !!!

Are you putting the intercoolers on without any other modifications, if you are, it would be good to know if you do actually get better performance or if they just keep the inlet temperatures down lower and avoid detonation better. I would certainly be interested ???

Olly.

Guys the compressor side of the left bank feeds the right bank and vice versa, the balance bar acts a supplementary balance!

The HKS is a good intercooler and keeps it as it should be :)

Blitz intake and ECU and dump valves

So just to clarify.. do some intercoolers mess this up this setup?

Yes they do, any side mount will be fine, but some FMIC's flow from the left to right on one turbo and vice versa.

These ones muck up the system and can give you problems!
