As the title says I have almost bought one , I tried a few and found a bargain at the end but I have a few questions for ya if you dont mind.

1, when a car is imported into the Uk and has a sva test does the jap speedo which is reading 180kmh get changed so that it will display mph on it for that or is it not a mandatory thing.

2, where is the sport / touring switch for the suspension the one i tested today had a red switch next to the auto box arm with 0 and 1 markings , is that it?

3, the one today had a boost gauge showing -7 to +7 and i cant remember what the other ones i saw were, is this right

4 , how the hell do you get the grin off your face, I cant believe the way they climb to 100mph mind u the back end does try to have its way with you.

Thanks

Kev

Welcome :)

1. Yes, those changes are made in the sva test however If the car is older than 10 years old, it will not have an SVA test. Some importers make the changes anyway, some dont.

2. The Sports/Touring switch only came on U.S Models. Jap Imports dont have adjustable suspension, and Uk cars only have it on the rear, operated by lifting handbrake lever 1 notch.

3. -7 to +7 is what Imports have. -14 to +14 is UK cars. Imports read in mmHG (or something like that), UK cars read in psi.

4. The Grin never goes away ;)

it sounds like you might of road tested a uk car, uk cars have -14 to +14 on boost gauge and also they have ajustable rear shocks but i was led to believe this is worked by clicking up the handbrake one notch and not with a switch by the gear lever

One piece of advice. Make sure the 60k service has been done. Its a hefty one, camvbelt water pump and some other things.

Looks a nice car Kev - and the right colour too :hyper:

As previously posted, the grin never goes away. I've had mine 3 years now and it still makes me grin when it hits 100 soooo quickly - it's what these cars are best at IMO :D

As for the rear end, they can be tail happy in the wet but fit decent tyres and the difference is amazing.

Mine had Avons when I bought it and they were crap, fitted Goodyear F1s and it was like a different car  It rarely gives out now, even in the wet.....

Welcome to ZX ownership!

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
