New car time again and the Z has to go :( It's been fun and all that but money is burning a hole in my pocket so.....

I've narrowed it down to 3 cars - all v. different with pros/cons..just want to get a straw poll from yourselves about what you'd buy from the 3!

(1) 911 (964) circa 1991 manual w. 100,000K Met. Grey - good nick

(2) 2003 Lotus Elise manual w. 10,000K Blue w. Hardtop - perfect cond.

(3) 2003 Nissan 350Z auto w. 15,000K - Import - perfect cond.

Some info - I am a lazy bugger and enjoy the auto boxes...

I drive wkends only though so could live with a manual

So help a guy out - what the f*** will I get?!??!

350Z is auto though :( For that range of cars i would get a Lotus Esprit instead. Though Esprit's are unreliable i think.

911 - too old, too Porsche, too expensive

Elise - too much fun, but not AT ALL practical

350Z - damn good car, not sure about the autobox though

Really like this though ... http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/previews/62389/volkswagen_ecoracer.html

911 - it's a Porsche.. one day :hyper: :hyper:

Elise - fun for the twisties, but crap when you need raw power - i got bored of it real quickly, but guess it could be a fun weekend car.

350z - couldn't face a slower zcar!! (But they are pretty nice!)

Someone mentioned the espirit - you think the Zed's trouble!! I keep playing with the idea of restoring one (mate's got one with a blown engine) but he says they're awful cars - he's a shit salesman!!

Personnally i would go for a late 928GTS superb cruiser.

awesome car - need to buy as late as possible though cos the earlier electrics are awful! Had a drive of a race prepped 928 and it was absolutely ****ing brilliant - it's like being in a fighter jet the way the cabin closes round you!

Gotta say it would be a close run thing between the 350 and the 911 for me.

911's have been one of my fave cars since i can remember, uber reliable etc etc, but i think the 350 would just win, mainly cos of the newness (is that a word) of it.

I too like auto's but if i could, id have a manual for a weekend thrash about!

Cheers

Rich

no way to the 911.. had one.. and was off the road more than a rover... lol

no way to the 350 (sorry folks) but its a girls car.

only way to go is with the elise... but then again... maby not...

Get a rx8.... much better... but then again thats not one of your choices..

For maybe £12,000 an importer can get you a year 2000 300ZX TT.

I'd take that over any of your suggestions except maybe the 350Z.

An RX8 is waaaay more girly than a 350Z - I like the 350Z even if it is a bit "I have plenty of cash and know nothing about cars and bought a magazine and they told me to buy this".

Hey the rx8 is quick as a duck!!!

and before my american cars..... i owned several rx7's TT's and NA's

hence why i decided to go back jap after driving muscle cars..... (more reliable)

anyway .... rx8 is quick.... can fit 4 adults... and lethal.....

definitely the 350z

BUT - with an import they have a different exhaust and therefore don't have the same lovely grumble...

Wow - a divisive Q...appreciate the replies - even if they're all a bit different!.

I'm a porker fan from when I was a kid - and I think that's what's swaying me to the 911 (but I reckon the reality of it NOT being a 993/996 would end up bugging me).

Have to say I reckon the 350z isn't that much of a hairdressers car!

I'm test driving the elise on wednesday - I'll probably buy it in a rush of blood to the head! Will let ye know how that pans out.

350z test drive yet to be sorted - I've mates who say it's quite "soft"....

reckon I need to pull the finger out and make a bloody decision ;)

Cheers fellas.....

either the 350z (manual) or

spend the money on the 300 :D

basic suspension upgrade, GTR brakes, fast road autobox and boost upgrade - this will all surprise you

and to get a fresher feel

Leather retrim, alloys, and touch up of the paint

 No none of them just buy Sgt C`s motor im sure Zelda wont let you down

i would buy a second hand tvr tuscan only £17000, got the looks, faster then that lot, u'll get loads of looks, sounds great, it was british, and there arnt many around,

but if it had to be one of the three, id go for the 350z

Personnally i would go for a late 928GTS superb cruiser.

I have to second this as well as I've always liked the 928 (from s4 onwards) and Portiacraft currently have a silver-blue 1993 GTS 5.4 with 63k miles for under £18k  .

Otherwise the 350z but a manual..............but the Maseratti 3200gt is pretty cool and I've been eyeing up nice w reg examples with low miles for around £20k.....

Hmmmmm decisions decisions ;)

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

If youre look at an elise, get a vx220 turbo instead, a much better car apparently, plus its turbo'd so you can wind the boost up, mental. That is unless youre a badge snob.

but the Maseratti 3200gt is pretty cool and I've been eyeing up nice w reg examples with low miles for around £20k.....Richard :D

Richard - I'm sure I put you onto this idea - not that it matters! :D

It's the running costs that could be the fly in the ointment with a Maseratti though. I bet something simple like a clutch would be thousands.

Porsche 911, the 964 is a great car.

I think NOT.......sold my 911......For a 300ZX TT........ :D

Don't think I like the 350 as much.......so 300 for me please.... ;)

The 350Z is the best choice by far IMHO. That model 911 is very unreliable and the Lotus is awesome fun to drive but the interior and ride would pi$$ you off after a while.
