If you find nearly the perfect car, but it's an NA, and you want a TT, how much will a conversion to TT cost, if you get it professionally done by one of the Z experts?

Just wondering if it's economically viable.

Mark (Topless) will be the best to ask as he's done it!-not sure why you would want to tho'?? :)

As far as I know, topless did an engine swap.

Alternatively, lymon turbocharged an NA engine, you might want to do that, in which case speak to him.

An engine swap is a conversion of the car from Na to TT, although the engine swap is the easy part, it is all the other ancillaries that are the major headache!

We can add turbos to an NA engine if you want, although I wouldn't recommend that for long term use, I think Lymon was experimenting there and wanted to see the outcome.

Or we can convert an NA engine to run Turbos with the correct internals changed over.

due to the differance in compression from the NA to TT The max boost you could run on the NA is about 7psi but as mark said if you swap over some of the internals then the boost can be raised, but then you have to change some of the drivetrain to cope with the increase,so buy a TT its cheaper unless your doing it yourself as a project IMO

I've thought about this and asked lots of people. I don't think you'd get much change from £4000 unless you did much of the work yourself. Could be more or less but it won't be cheap!

and the outcome of the experiment is that you CAN turbocharge a stock NA engine (in good condition) without too much trouble :D

I've done 2 sofar and both engines are still running very good

The TT'ed NA engine I have in one of my Zeds is still very strong and powerful after 3+ years and 25000mls

only problem I have now is those weak stock TT turbos are starting to give up ;)

with stock TT injectors and fuelpump you'll be able to run approx. 11 psi max on a NA engine. anything above that and the injectors will not be able to provide enough fuel (meaning the NA engine at 11psi delivers the same or slightly more power as a TT engine on 14 psi)

for the cost aspect, it's cheaper to just buy a TT parts car and use the engine and other parts from the TT to do the conversion.
