Asper the title says

Well since having my auto changed to a manual the car seems to run better however 0-60 is still around the slow 8 - 9 second marks.

I know previously the car had a code 34 problem, i have not checked to see if that is still there yet as i never have the time and im not that great with cars . . . yet that is.

would the code 34 retard the car this much??

Also when/if i try to put away quickly the car tends to really hesitate for a second or so, again might this be the code 34 or possibly something else???

I know i need to change the plugs still :headvswal

And to top my rant off ive just got back from the pictures at boldon (north east) and went to the asda next door and left my leather gloves there :headvswal

What a muppet

The inlet cams and the turbo's are different on a manual engine to an auto. Maybe that is why yours doesn't drive the way it should.

Yeah but it shouldn't be that much slower.

This is not the problem, in fact smaller faster spoiling turbo`s give better response but at a loss of maxim power higher up, but the trade off is better for today's kind of driving conditions, long high speed driving is almost unheard of today with speed camera's etc.

The problem is the conversion to manual is not complete yet, setting up after the conversion is needed to get the best performance, and these kind of hybrid conversions require intuitive methods.

Each and every car ...zed or whatever will have a unique characteristic response to changes in its set up and this often gets overlooked a the best of times but after any kind of conversion work this must be taken in to account, bet you find most of the issues are easy to sort out if this approach is taken.

Pop it back over Lee and we can give it a service for you and solve the problem that was there before the conversion, it is a shame you didn't have the time when you had the car in for the conversion :(

well I have to say sorry, I must not have my crystal ball working today to diagnose the problems with your car over the internet without seeing it for myself, and the conversion that has been done.

Remind me never to offer infomation to you again.

Your original reply was one of many suggestions from fellow members. Im sure "bird" is gratefull for any advice, and there was no rude response or anything derrogatory or offensive in reply to your help...so why the Unnecessary attitude ?

the cam profiles are slightly differant and having a manual conversion, having the auto cams it would be seen as an improvement, but as said if the car aint running 100% which it clearly isent then other things need to be checked

boost leaks, damaged hoses, timing and so on

The turbos and cams on the auto are designed to give more torque but less bhp.

This just all confuses me now like :(

Whats better to have? more torq or more BHP? :wack:

BLATZ

Yes your forgiven as far as im concerned, i just dont know what was wrong, hope it wasn't anything i said :)

if you want to have a higher top speed then you will need BHP

if you want quicker acceloration then buy my car, sorry my mistake you need torque

but a good combination of both is what you are really after, or my car lol

  • Author

if i want a dent and another bill ill come and get your car mate

only kidding, to be honest i doubt im ever going to be doing 170mph so the better accelaration would be the way forward in my opinion :)

Who know once everythin is sorted i may well have a quicker car than yours  then you'll be :hurl: as fook

What mods does your car have anyway mate?

Nothing you said bird, something my bird said!!

anyway did you get the code 34 sorted yet?

i know.... unhitch the caravan and fill it with petrol instead of diesel. that should get it going better.

seriously though mate, i dont think it having auto tubs/cams will make a vast difference to 60. mayb half a sec or 1 at the most. you should easily get under 7secs if its just rough set up. sounds like its in safety boost or you've got some serious launching issues?

sorry im not being very technical but i have no idea what the prob is so im just trying to be helpful

si.
