I've been told b ymy electrician that HID kits aren't all they're made out to be, you're beeter off getting a pair of uprated bulbs, the R32 GTR Skyline has the same problem, I bought a pair off Ebay, much better than standard and only cost me £5 posted.

Take apart and clean your headlights first, makes a big difference. Mine like, everyone else's, were like candles at night, and after cleaning them they are as good as just about every other car I've owned.

Utter nonsense. Wky are all the major car manufacturers fitting them on their top end models???

Best tell your electrician to stick to fiting new 13A sockets. :nelson:

Not so Alex

I have HID kit fitted to my dipped beam and I can drive around anywhere on dipped not bothering with high beam. Also I have tried every bulb upgrade in the book and a good HID kit beats them hands down.

Your chum was probably refering to inferior kits or similar.

think ur electricain mate is talking through his ass i fitted hid to mine and yes they are 35w bulbs but because they use a spark to ignite gas to light and not a filament they are loads brighter, my lights were 3-4 times brighter after fitting hid

Well its only what I was told, also what I was told by my mate who had them in his R34 GTT, (as standard), and what I saw from a set fitted to an R32 GTR we had in work, personally for £500 I'd want to see an immense improvement over uprated bulbs.

Though I guess it depends how bright your standard lights are!

Out of interest, what rating are you using?

Any good "how to" links on that David? A job i'm telling myself for ages i'll do but worried i'll cock it up somehow! Is it the same as the rear lenses job, hot oven ,black gooey stuff everywhere?

Cheers.

Typical HID costs are more like £200, and everyone who has fitted them claim they are one of the best mods you can make out of all their mods. Carefull though..the higher the rating the more blue they are..and the more blue they are the less actual light they make! 4500-6000k is ideal

Legrath is right.

Our Interpower HID kits retail for £250 to subscribed members of this forum (£285 for all others) and I also sell uprated bulbs. These typically retail for £12 - £14 per pair.
