Gents,

I am off to see a Black Z reg G356 PWT this afternoon.

It is modded quite heavily and so I wondered if any of you knew of the car and could give me some of its history?

where would i be able to get a set of hicas arms? also which bushes often become worn on the rear as my MOT is due next month and there seems to be a lot of play at the rear

Mike at MJP (In traders section) can supply them. There are inner and outer bushes on the hicas arms. The Inner ones come with the arms and the outer ones come seperatly. They are the most likely causes of rear wear, but wear can also be from the upper or lower link arms or Antiroll bar bushes.

Get the car up in the air and check play by wiggling the wheel in various directions checking for movement.

Another cause for a loose rear end is the rear shocks. The suspension takes a lot of abuse from the weight of the car the forces put through, If the car is on 50k+ miles and original suspension then the shocks and spring will be worn.

the car has 86000 on the clock, not sure if this is km or miles tho, jap spec but the dials are in mph, but will change rear shocks and springs too. any1 know how long it takes to become a member, sent the cheque off last week

I'm supposed to be going to see this car at the weekend and was wondering what the final conclusion was on it?

I'd be doing the cambelt, water pump etc anyway and it looks like the rear shocks need replaced? no problem with that either

Just wondering about the running order of the engine/turbos? and any other general/expensive problems that it may have?

I'm too far away to go for a viewing so i'll be going with intent to buy but would like to know exactly what i can "haggle" with him on.

Other things i'd like to know is general body condition, dents, scratches, rust etc..

Cheers in advance,

(Bottom line.. is it worth £3600?)

I am shure you can get a better one on here for that money, and you will be

sure that the owner will not be ripping you off.

Where are you based as there is one I know of in Gloucester.

It belongs to a mate and we did the cam belt service last year.

I'm way up in Scotland.

It just seems like a nice car for the money. I need transport pretty quickly and looking for a Z so it seems like my best bet just now?

If the cambelt's been done then i'll have more money to spend on getting i right. So is there anything you know that's particularly wrong with it as it's your mates?

What's the other car that you know of? I'm looking for a manual TT in a nice colour, i couldn't be doing with an auto.

Cheers for your reply.

Picking up a unknown Zed without looking at it is very very risky mate. There are more dogs out there than good ones. I guarantee that in the long one you'll spend many thousands more if you do this. Have a look at whats for sale here, at least you know the history then. You'll definately benefit from spending more and getting one thats already had plenty of work done on it.

Andy has one for sale that is known on here. Its a hike but its your money. sure tehre are a couple of others too

Can't see any manual TT's on here within my price range, or anywhere else for that matter (well, without travelling a lot further).

I just thought i'd ask as it's already been viewed by people on this forum so could give me a heads up. As long as the majority of the expensive parts are ok i don't have a problem with it. I plan keeping the maintenance up on the car and i know it will cost money.. but i was wondering what the general condition of the car is like and the condition of the engine/turbos and i can go from there.

So i take it this car isn't too hot? or is it just the fact that buying one without knowing too much about it's history puts people off?

I viewed the black 300z on merseyside. If you would like you could e-mail me and I will tell you all I can remember of the car. I came very close to buying it and only didnt because Steves 94 uk was still up for grabs for only a bit more money; thats not to say this one isnt worth 3600 though.

I'm way up in Scotland.

Where abouts in Scotland are you mate,i'm in the Ayrshire area and the experience i had looking for a Z in Scotland was bad,i was after a Series 3 or higher and never came across one for sale,if i saw what i thought was a good one South of the border i would make a day of it on a Sunday going to see it and spending a lot of time with the car.

I got mine in Kidderminster and well worth it,if you travel a bit its worth it and far more to choose from at a reasonable price or better yet as a member stated on this thread, buy from an enthusiast who's selling on here.

With a car like the 300zxits better to spend a bit more on a well looked after one than one thats cheaper and will cost you way more putting right...all the same hope you find a nice example Z for yourself ;)

live in N. Ayrshire so you're not far away!

Well i'm going to go see it on saturday as long as what "trebor" remembers of it wasn't bad! :D

In Kilmarnock myself

Good luck wi the car, hope its a good one :)

well i bought the old Z and seems fine. Done the 250 odd miles back home without any problems at all, no smoke, not overheating, not leaking, not hunting or cutting out.. the ride seems fine, feels nice and "tight".. all the electrics work.. seems to have a fairly good history and is in good nick apart from one or two wee things i can sort out.

All in all i'm happy with it so far and the traction control is a godsend! seems fairly quick, too.. had a wee blast with ma mates cav turbo running about 300bhp and i passed him without too much bother.

So it seems an alrighter..

get pics once i wash the bl**dy salt/grit off it that it gathered today, can't even see the rear number plate never mind read it lol.

well that freaked me out, apart from the 3 numbers the reg is the same.. i had to check mine for a sec in case it had been cloned!!!!!!

lol.. i could imagine the fright you got! i hope it's different, too :)

yer.. mines fookin gorgeous

Well done mate !

Nice too see that I am not the only loony who travels miles to get a car ! ;)

Be cautious in this crapy weather tho,

she will bite you if you dont show enuff respect !!

Happy motoring,

Alan................

cheers guys.. seems like a good one although it does have one or two wee cosmetic bits to tidy up but nothing major.

Even with the traction control on "Wet" it tends to fish a little bit at times so i know what you mean about the crappy weather and not to mention all the salt/grit on the roads.

Going to get it dyno'd etc just to make sure it's running ok and see what it's putting out, prob no more than 340 - 350 i would reckon.

Got the first uk owners address as well so i'm going to try getting in contact with him to see if he can tell me more about the history and what sort of servicing he's done to it to..

Anyway, another day and i'm still happy with it so :)
