Hi all,

the question is in the titel: what's your experience JW-chip vs SuperChip?

Won't install the Twinchip soon (better version than superchip, but mostly unknown in the US, so i guess here neither, that's why i say super instead of twin). Just wanna know to make me a better image about the chips. I'm not talking about power, they are +/- all the same, i'm talking about long-live engine with the chips. . .

thnks in advance ;)

cheers,

BS

I think you will find a lot of people her use JWT...

JWT out of the two every time - Superchips are poo IMHO :smw:

well, I expected the "JW-answer" here, but I'd find it interresting to know 'why'. So far I just know that I hear loads of people saying "JW", but nearly no one can give me a technical explanations about.

The technical explanations so far I got, are all speaking against the JW.

someone looked at the maps, AFAIK the fueling hasnt even been changed, theyve just upped the rev limiter & removed the speed limiter

well, i read that a few times, but it sounds completely non-logic to me. Why?

If the superchip has JUST RPM increased and the speed limit removed, where the hell gets he the HP ammount (+/- same than JW's)? That can't be true, or at least is an incomplete 'saying'

Superchips have a very bad name for themselves for all cars, especially with turbocharged vehicles. Stay clear !

JWT is a reliable safe option, but there are more potent Chips available.

The "claimed" power increase comes from raising the boost level with either boost jets or a boost controller. The chip does not do this itself, I expect they provide you with a pair of boost jets with the Chip.

now THAT sounds better :) Is there any other technical info about those chips? Thats the most difficult part of this damn chip quesion :) :) I think it will be a 50%/50% chance at the end to get the 'better' one :)

had a superchips in mine when i bought it and it was pants when you floored the car it would take ages to accelerate up to speed fitted one of chrisc's chips and the difference was amazing

well, did you had the SAME config? I mean same injectors, same turbos, same intercoolers, ...? Cause a main difference like you're explaining couldn't be felt so far by different chip drivers...

i've got stock everything the superchips chip also made the car run lean on higher revs and to rich lower down the rev band

ime running a genuine mines ecu, runs rich up and down the rpm scale but never feels "fluffy" because of this. allways makes me feel safe when after wiping my finger up the zorst it comes out jet black. 16-17 psi x rich fueling = safe boosting so ime happy with the mines but alot of heads dont like the fuel map ;)

post some bin file and I will look and see how different they are, I have a mines bin file and Z-control ones.

I run a genuine mine's light tune VXROM ECU (TT Auto version) which gives me 13.5psi and nice fuelling all the way up the range with blisteringly quick mid range response. Guys who have all the maps from the various chips rate is as one of the most aggresive with safe fueling a bit like the JWT chips which appear to be slightly less aggressive.

IMHO I would take the JWT or see if you can get a second hand mines's VXROM on flea-bay they turn up all the time as more and more jap z32's get broken.

with superchips most people pay for the brand name, as in "wikid i just superchipped ma nova respek". they are best really only on european cars. youll probably find the JWT is half the price and twice as good.

im using a jwt and get same thing if wipe exhaust is this deffo a good thing, however car feels slow at low rpm and sometimes hesitates at high rpm im considering changing chip wot would peeps recommends which is more responsive at low rpm and midrange cheerz.

guys, please stay on FACTS and technical date about. Things like for example "my friend drives the Z with XXX chip since a few year and is happy with" doesn't help me at all :D

Does any one has the data cheets of the both chips? thnx in advance

ill give you facts mate, "i drive a zed with xxx chip and ime very happy" as for technical data after a mornin blast you get loads of these with my xxx chip ;) ;) ;)

Technical ok superchip is a base map for any ecu the tuner then tweaks it by leaning or overfuelling with his laptop, once he is satisfied with the setup he then burns it into the chip which if you add to the car eg zorst or air filter he will then re-map to suit the car BUT the Superchip is pretty sh*t on the zed whereas jwt have spent ages setting up the map specifically for the zed and not for any fookin load of crap car up to top end motors, so only in my opinion i would go for what is designed specifically for my car, oh and if you do find data for a superchip on a zed it,ll be a lucky find !!!
