Im a sootie (propulsion tech!) in the RAF, its a good life mate... if you want any info from someone thats been in for a bit give me a PM or something :D

Go for it mate. The Raf is easily the best lifestyle of all the forces. You get treated like humans, the food and accom is as good as you'll get in the forces, and you'll have some amazing experiences too. If you've got the qualifications then have a try for Officer, its worth it in the long term. If you don't get it then you can still go as an ordinary rank. Dave

Yep...RAF is the way to go. It is a cushy lifestyle and you don't have to work as hard as you do in the Army...haha.

Deffo go for something you can use to make money when you get out though...

Never understood why people go in as tank drivers etc as I never see much need for them in civvy street...

I nearly went in to the RAF as a PTI (Physical Training Officer), Got all the way to the last interview and then knocked back due to not having ran a sports centre in my past :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

As Angus says, think about what you will do when you eventually leave the services, pick the job that will give you a trade or apprenticeship as a Aircraft Technician. I was in the Fleet Air Arm (Navy's equivalent to RAF) left in 2001, now working for Airbus. Go for it, its a great life if it suits you, it can be Hell if it doesnt suit you.
