I have a Jap import TT. I have noticed that the oil pressure has read very low ever since I bought the car a couple of months ago. I know that Zeds have a habit of suffering from dodgy senders, but the readings on my car don't seem to fluctuate, they just stay low all the time, which worries me.

ย

The stock gauge in my car reads 0-7. On a cold start, the pressure reads just 4 and it only goes down from there. Whilst at traffic lights and warm, it stablizes at about 1. On the motorway it sits at about 3.5, which is the highest it ever reaches apart from when stone cold.

I have changed the oil to Mobil 1 fully synthetic and there has been no difference at all. Am I in trouble????

prob is just the crap gauge TBH mate. the only way to check is with an oil pressure tester.

probably just the sender mate mate change it to be on the safe side

Running mobil one will give you a low reading cause its only 0w-40 and runs very thin. Good for this time of year though but you shoulod try 10w-50

search - nissan electric sender is very unreliable - with the engine ticking over and hot take a look see inside the oil filler cap - you should see it swimming in oil in there=fine!

A new sender is quite expensive and goes off again within 30k miles. You can always fit an after market one if it worries you.

get an after market one mate, easy peasey to plug in and is much better, i sh*t myselp the first time i went out in mine with my new guage, pressure was all over the place, reads like my rev counter, just a few sec's behind!

Thanks for the help guys. I will look into it a bit further, but I feel a lot happier now.

Cheers & Beers
