Hey guys!

Me AGAIN!! Right seeing as my car now closely resembles Darth Vader's bathroom inside i think i'll try to approach the dodgy headlight issue.

When i'm driving at night i might as well have a bloody granny with a lighter infront of me cos they sh*te. now at some point there has been a modification because there is new wiring from one light to the other and off somewhere else. Also the headlights now run on hid 100w lamps. Is this normal?

The problem is even with these bloody great wattages they're still utter crap. My main beam is like daylight and my dip beam might as well not be there - my fog lights are brighter than the headlights!!!

If there is anyone out there who has any onfp on how to change the lighting to a better spec without melting half the headlight or seting fire to it, it would be great. I assume on the later spec cars they used a different headlight system as the '99 spec cars actually blind u when u see them from the front - total confusio yet again but am gettin a tad tired of driving home at night with three candle power infront of me!!

Cheers again guys - you been great so far, i think maybe i should just give up with this one and go buy another one lol!!

Take care people

Happy christmas fellow zedders (i get excited early!!!)

Rich

are you sure they are HID bulbs? The HIDs on mine are fantastic to the point that putting full beam on doesn't make that much of a difference.

I would say you almost certainly dont have a proper HID conversion in there. Prices start at around £250+ (and will be the same brightness as 99 spec and new Bmw's, Mercs, police..etc)

Changing bulbs will make very little difference if the inside of the headlight unit is dirty (very common problem)

hes right you deffo ca'n't have the propper HID'S fitted as they are mega bright!! the best mod on a ZED by far

Seen the difference between the standard (shite) and HID converted headlights and i defo think i shall be investing in a conversion kit!!!!

Christ on a bike mate, they were filthy weren't they...definately gonna give that a go.

So where can i get this HID conversion from then? Cos i'm so sick of the crap light output from these standard things.

Also make sure your adjusters are working , they,re plastic and tend to crack with age .

There is a link to replacing the adjusters with metal gears from a Tamiya model car diff gear set , i did this to mine , well worth doing if you are gonna take your lamps apart, the whole set of gears are about £6 from any good model shop :hyper: HTH

The headlights on my import TT are feeble too. I shall too checkout the HID upgrade thingy

Danny at DTA does the kit

Great thanx guys :o)

I fitted 6K HIDs and no difference (apart from a blue/white light now instead of yellow).

Just found the adjuster screw and raised them and its bloody brilliant :D Happy chappy - just waiting to find out how to correctly adjust them now - i.e 5m away from wall on a flat and headlight beam should hit same height as headlights.

Best way to see whether the lights need adjusting is by parking the car 5 metres from a wall and seeing where the light hits. At that distance the top of the main light pattern should be at the same height as the physical height of the headlights as mounted in the car

Just found it :)

anyone got a pic of where the adjuster is? my dipped beams seems a bit lopsided.

getgreddy and dta?? anyone have their telephone numbers or web sites? i want this upgrade too.

Sorry folks, I've been away in the USA for a week so haven't seen this thread.

Yes, I supply X5 HID kits (as fitted to many Mercs, Beemers and a load of GM cars). They are a straight swap over and do not require any modifications to the existing light housing or wiring looms. This kit is therefore completely reversible - as in you can remove the HID kit completely and revert back to the stock halogen bulbs in a matter of minutes.

Am running a promotion on these kits at the moment - £250 delivered (normal retail is £295). Have put these on my own car recently and am absolutely amazed at the difference it has made. I must confess that I did go down the route of cleaning the inside of headlights first - which I highly recommend everyone to do regardless of whether you're fitting HID's, the difference is definitely noticeable. These kits have been independently tested and came out in the top three (for both ballast and bulb performance) only to be out performed by the much more expensive Philips systems. They are a doddle to install and you won't have problems with bulbs blowing or ballasts frying every other month (as happens with some other cheaper kits mostly available through eBay ...) They are well worth the money, especially if you consider that authentic Nissan 99-spec HID lights cost in excess of £1000 and the Philips units come in a shade under £900.

Send me a pm or give me a shout if you want more info.

Regards,

Dan
