My HICAS light was on when i got tha car and was old it had been disabled. Not entirely true as the system was low on P/s fluid so topped it up and the light now gos out for about the first 10-15 mins of any journey.

It then comes on and stays on?? Ive checked the fluid and its fine, the system works if you give the car some grief when the light is off but stops once it comes on.

Any ideas where to start in getting the hicas fixed?

most common HICAS problems are low on fluid or steering wheel is not centered correctly when going straight.

If you have an aftermarket steeringwheel, then that's the problem

The stock steering wheel needs to be exactly centered when going in a straight line.

This can be checked by using a conzult/consult.

(the HICAS hub angle sensor behind the steering wheel needs to be at exactly 0 degrees when the wheel is centered)

arr, i do have an after market steering wheel, is there any way round this problem keeping my after market wheel? do i need to get conzult out and play with the tracking etc?

if you want to keep the steeringwheel, you'll need to get a hub adapter that allows you to keep HICAS (eg. a DAIKEI hub adapter)

Also make sure you still have the HICAS steering angle sensor ! (usually this one is removed and binned when installing a non HICAS enabled hub adapter)
