If anybody has any pictures of where they mounted their ballast units for H.I.D lighting please can you post a couple of pics, it would be gratefully appreiciated. ;) Thanks in advance. I know people say under the light, behind the light etc, but The passenger side light seems more restricted on space than the other  So pics will be GREAT.

thats where i put mine also

Any pics?? I was going to do it today but I have been rained off, I had a look under there and could not see many places to mount the ballasts, my alarm siren is also under there so that might need repositioning.

In the picture is a US standard headlamp unit (Right of Pic) and a Jap 99 spec HID lamp unit (Left of pic)

Although its a 99, this is tha same place I stuck my ballasts directly to the underside of each lamp unit. (The 99 is on a metal bracket, not stuck on)

So if you stick them (my ballast came with a double sided sticky pad) to the inner (high beam) side of each lamp unit there is plenty of room there. Also no need to 'Stretch' the wires to fit in the centre area, or 'drill' / 'pull tie' them within the engine bay.

Sorry to bump this, but it saved writing another thread as I do actually use the search engine. Can you fit those to the underside of the headlight without having to remove them? IE, slide them in from underneath with bumper removed?

Sorry Si, but I have absolutely NO idea :D

But saying that, looking at this pic with my bumper off (and a lot of other stuff ;) ) it looks possible, as there is nothing that sticks down on the front edge of a lamp unit. Depends then if you can get the wires up the back of it without too much trouble!

Dave

I dont think you'll be able to 'slide' them in and stick it from there. Also doesnt it depend on how big your ballasts are...! In any case the only way to know is to try! There is plenty of space there but I didnt put mine there cause I was lazy and couldnt be bothered to take the headlight apart for that.

Maybe do it in the future.

Cheers guys. Gonna be getting HIDs soon. Worried they'll not fit under the nose panel as I'm running stock induction.

Dave, looks like there's some room above those air intakes. (under headlamps). But it's just whether the wiring will reach? I guess that depends on what kit you get and how generous the manufacterers are with the length of cable they supply.

Si, I think there is too much 'stuff' in that hole where the air intake pipes are. The only option in that place would be to have an APEXi filter fitted and then remove the extension pipe.

As for sliding the ballast into the gap without removing the headlamp unit..... Nope it can't be done, the front of the headlamp hangs over. So it looks like a headlamp out job. There is a 2cm gap below the headlamp, so a ballast that is thicker than 2cm wont fit properly without affecting the headlamp.

Yeah, I just went over to my Z just now to have a tinker. I've still not refitted the front bumper yet and can see there's little space for balast. :(

I found the lack of length to the wiring a problem to mount in the nose, so I have tied mine into the engine bay behind either light. They seem very sturdy and I've had no problems at all. would take some pics but its absolutely pissing down!
