just got pulled by traffic, out gets small spikey blonde and our local community officer right prat he is younger then me..

 

she says" excuse me sir the reason i have stopped you is that your fog lights are on, and it is an offence to drive with them on when not needed" quick as a flash i reply" no they are not" she says " yes they are" i then reply "they cant be" she says why not i say " because if they were this is what you would see" turned the front ones on and the road lit up,, and then i said "this is the rear one" turned the switch in the car on it goes bright orange and the rear came on.

 

now the best bit... i then said" dont know much about japanese supercars do you? especially imported ones? see the small lights below the main ones? she said why, i told here the lights are standard, seeing as she couldnt get me on that she then said" also we are cracking down on drink driving in this area on the run up to xmas" i stopped her there and said in a nice calm manner" i dont drink" she then said " however we are cracking down" i then replied" i dont drink if i drink i die" she went quiet the prat next to her looked at me and i then said" if you have no further grounds to detain me and have no grounds to stop me i will be on my way" with that i started the car and carried on home...

I got stopped once cause of my exhaust, apparently it was too loud, so I said how do you know if its legally too loud or not, and guess what he said "no comment" and then immediatelly asked me where i got my MOT from, the **** i told him no way, i just said i cant remember :D

good on yer buddy ...i got stopped in middlesbrough on my way home from seeing my sons ...i got out of the car , trafic cop started on with his "is this your vehicle sir"

speeel ..i took out my mobile phone and told him clearly yes it is officer and for my defence ( i bluffed ) i am going to record this conversation ....he just told me to drive carefully over the a66 on the way back and to get on my way ..he had no reason to stop me at all ****az......we are just to easy a target to fill their monthly fine quotas

Worst pull i ever had was when a riot van blue lighted me on a roundabout, so as opposssed to stopping in a dangerous place i carried on over the roundabout, the road i came off onto had double yellow lines so i pulled onto the very wide path then drove forward about 10 yards to give them room to pull in behind me, the smart arsed copper jumped out and gave me a £20 fine (yep, thats how long ago it was) for driving a vehicle on something other than a road.

 

I contested the fine and had to write a letter to the cps who decided, that in this matter they have decided not to persue the charge, no apology or feck all.

I've found if I don't do anything wrong I don't get stopped! Furthermore they don't have monthly targets for issuing tickets and don't see a penny of any fine issued.

I get stopped at least once a month with "Do you realise this vehicle isn't Insured ?" to which I normally reply yes I know this... Let them waffle on for a bit then produce my trader's policy from my wallet.. with the comment "The car doesn't have to be insured cause I am.. Have a nice day now bye!!! " :)

Quite right Pete, what you have to remember is, how did that burglar get to your house? Sure as hell they don't walk there! Nearly every criminal nowadays relies on some form of transport. If they didn't need transport they wouldn't steal cars! People need to see the bigger picture. If you are genuine and law abiding what problem is there being stopped by the police if you have done something wrong even if it's a traffic offence. "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime."

If you want drive with fog lights go ahead, but accept the possibility that if you get stopped you might get fined!

as for stealing cars.. the proven majority of all car theft is for joyriding according to police statistics.

 

also one other thing, modern police have forgotton one important thing, they are there to enforce the law, trouble is they think they are the law..

 

 

 

because if the police dont have grounds to stop you then they cant, also i did not have fog lights on, that is something any fool could tell, and especially TRAFFIC...

 

the only time the old bill can stop you without grounds is under sections 60-66 of the anti terrorism act and then there must be a public notification and notice posted that states that these have been brought into effect in your area.

 

when in effect they can stop,seize, search and detain without notification of cause or grounds.

 

also they are supposed to be working under the pace act and how many carry a copy of that for you when asked???

Nice one Pk, I agree they will do anything to boost their bookings, but there are good points too.

 

They saved me (and possibly others) from a serious accident when my rear wheel almost came off last year on the motorway. when the car started to go out of control, they were on me like a fly on sh*t, with lights flashing and sirens blazing.I slowed down and they created a passage between 18 wheelers and fast moving traffic on either side, so I could pull in to the hard shoulder. :bow:

 

So good cops spot things quickly, sometimes for the right reasons. It's not all bad. :)

Now this sheds a different light on the subject. I feel on these cirs then the driver is out of order to send out a young in service officer to do there dirty work towards a person they dislike themselves, namely yourself.
