That is one of the main advantages of a V6. Shorter engine and wider to spread the weight.

The intake manifold design on the 2.5T.T engine was less compromised and better designed than that on the 3.0T.T so surely (and I stand to be corrected on this) a better flowing engine, which is under less duress to produce the same amount of power is a stronger one? (I am talking about when both engines are still on stock internals)

If that's the case, I really can't understand why Toyota invested in the R&D to mass produce an engine (more produced than the 1JZ) which is inferior to their previous design... Why didn't they just use this engine to power the MK4? I'll do some homework :-)

Pete

A few reasons I reckon:

1) The MKIII was a 3.0, the MKII a 2.8. To go to a 2.5 may well have appeared a 'step backwards' to many potential buyers, irrelevant of actual power/performance.

2) The 2JZ is a stroked 1JZ. As a result it has more torque, but doesn't rev as well. But moving the fatass that is the MKIV requires a healthy dollop of grunt.

3) The 2JZ uses sequential blowers, and the 1JZ (AKAIK) uses parallel. Result: more low-down power.

I'm amazed the engine fitted into the Z32 - bet there was a load of work we can't see there. I'd also be surprised if the 2JZ was smaller than the RB26 - the odds are the 2JZ was available cheap to whoever did the conversion. If I was replacing the engine I'd probably have gone for a twin-turbo'd V8 myself (now THAT would be a Zed to be wary of wink.gif )

The 1JZ runs 11psi IIRC, and the 2JZ 10psi. The UK/US spec 2JZ also makes considerably more power and torque than the 1JZ. The J-spec 2JZ makes a load more torque, and makes it a lot lower down than the UK/US 2JZ.

Also, that Top Secret Supra with the RB26 had it fitted because apparently the 2JZ had too much low-down power to be driveable. That explanation appeared in Maxi Pants though, so is probably bollox biggrin.gif

Hmmm. Intersting! I'm still not 100% convinced, although someone else I know prefers the 1JZ...

Is that you Mr Churchill?

That seemed to be a bit harsh for what was a perfectly innocent piece of posting from Suprat.

But what about all of the s**t he has said in the past.He should be deleted immediatley.

Suprat its too late for you to come here kissing peoples arses you are not welcome and I know from MSN that many others hate you as well.

The moderation isnt working, its long standing members that are being moderated and no doubt being discussed in the private moderators forum when people like Suprat and some others are still posting

Looks like wazz and senna are now gone and many other clever and helpfull people hardly ever come here anymore. I wonder why?

What are all you supra people doing here anyway? I know its a public forum but I dont understand?? you constantly go on about how crap the 300 is but you cant seem to stay away from the place

Shame frown.gif

I know I did wind a couple of people up when I first posted on this forum....but I surely wasnt the only one at the time,on those particular threads.

I too have been "moderated" and so have now toned down my comments.I have, however never been abusive either generally or personally to anyone since Ive been here.

Just because someone has posted on here 2000/3000 times doesnt mean they are always right, or wholly innocent either.

Thanks.

p.s. One of your regular posters started this Supra engine thread.

Paul, lots of people have posted shit in the past. Z owners and regulars included.

Should i go back and delete every one of them ?

Moderation has started this week. It is way too early to say whether it is working or not. All of the moderators have to get some experience and learn what needs editing and what doesn't. It will take a little time.

If suprat is behaving now, then why remove them because of the past ?

If Warren has left because of my moderating his post, then thats his problem.

In my opinion he completely over reacted to suprats response.

If senna has left because i asked him to bear some simple guidelines in mind when posting, then thats his problem too.

I did not moderate him at all, he said nothing even remotely problematic. I just asked him to respect the new guidelines.

Don't get me wrong, i like Warren, he is one of my best friends, and he only lives down the road to me, but that does not mean i have to agree with what he posted.

Noone is or has been discussed in the moderators forum. It is there mostly to move questionable threads to while we try and sort out problems. It is also there for us to discuss what level of moderation we should adopt.

Helpful and clever people that used to be here left a longer time ago than this weekend. I have seen a steady decline of some people i have known for a few years now.

The forum as it has been is the main reason for that. Unmoderated argumentative childish posts that kept cropping up.

Hopefully some of those people still look in from time to time, and once they see that we are tidying our act, might even start posting again. Who knows ?

But until someone starts deliberately winding people up and being offensive, everyone gets the benefit of the doubt.

At the end of the day, if this was a subscription service, and owned by the members, then everyone would get a say. I am working on getting soemthing like that in place. Until then, the only person that pays for it is me. I have NEVER asked anyone for money to help me keep this forum running on MY OWN SERVER, AT MY OWN EXPENSE.

A few have offered, some have even offered a commission percentage for selling stuff via the site. These are people that do not make a living out of the Z, but people who have a some useful products or services. To date i have declined until i am able to provide a proper commercial environment for them, with proper facilities to show off their wares.

However, the people that do make money from this captive audience have not made the same advances.....

This whole matter over the last week has really brought home a few things to me....

"...the 2JZGTE should give a good deal more torque and be a better road

car engine, for race usage the 2.5 litre may be a better bet for a high

revving engine..."

I'd like to have a blast in a MK3 TT ;-)

Pete

I dunno, cross breading now eh? What next?

I believe the correct definition is a "Mongrel"!!! ROFL biggrin.gif
