Do Not Buy Cheap Tyres For Ur Zed Ever !! Never Use Or Even Think Or Remoulds , Or Part Worn Ect And When Buying New Wheels Make Sure If U Get The Tyres In The Deal , They Are Well Known Ones !!

One Of My Nanknangs Schredded Itself Today On The Rollin Road At Around 100 Mph And Must Have Scared The Life Outta John Dixon And Ryan ( Sorry Guys ) . Tyres Looked Fine And Had Alot Of Grip Left And Were Included New When I Got My Wheels....big Mistake

So Just A Little Warning To Everyone !! Well Its Common Sense Really.

So I Now Have A Nice New Set Of Goodyear F1's On Their Way To Be Fitted.

Good advice. Tyres are like insurance only more important - you know you're going to use them ....

Ouch!! Good thing it was on the rolling road rather than the real thing. Definitely, definitely going to be F1s when I go for replacement then.

will take some pics when they come off tomorrow Karl

one word for you "nankang" erm they are the worst of the bad tyres but hey you never can tell just by looking at a tyre what its going to do

It scared Ryan more than me, but he's a big girl anyway  Or to be fair, he was standing right next to it when it went, and I was in the car.

Was kinda hairy actually, even managed to get a bit stuck in my throat because I inhaled it :o

Why anyone with a car would even consider putting on cheap rubbish is beyond me.

The 4 tyres are all that keep you on the road and should be your top priority over everything else.

And as said Nankang are potentially the worse of the lot.

Mate, slightly off topic. What sort of wheels are those on your zed?

shall i ditch my nankangs then???

 they will be gone before the car is back on the road anyway!

if they are the correct rating then they should not have shredded at all. Contact Nankang and see what they have got to say for themselves. Yes they may be crap grip wise but at the end of the day they they shouldnt shred no matter how crap they.

Fair point scoops. I try to never put cr*p tyres on the Zed but they still shouldn't fall to bits as they are rated, just rubbish grip. I'm actually driving round with a puncture repair in one of my rears at the moment, doesn't exactly fill me with confidence! Dave

i have to disagree with you here i ran runners all the time on mine and remoulds as i got through them so quick never had any trrouble with them ever so i wouldnt be too quick to judge cheap tyres.......i never ever looked after tyres and gave them aggro every day

new ;) meaning to eat my tread ay bud lol

My car had two new Nankangs on when I got it and they made the car shake above 85mph. Got them changed and that sorted it.

well i have used nankangs for the past 2 sets with no problems (elthough kwik fit fooked one)

but after hearing that it does kinda make me think.. and F1's are not a stupid price either.

think i may just have to go to a track day and shred them!

Toyos have amazing grip and have lasted for me (rarely wheel spin and drive carefully most of the time). The ones on the back of my 200SX have been on for > 20,000 miles (> 2 years) !

Have to agree with the first post. Tyres are the only point of contact you have with the road so should never be skimped on. Especially on such a heavy high performance car like a ZX.

Cheapo tyres may have the right speed rating but they are cheap because they are made to poorer standards. Goodyears and Bridgestones are trusted, tried and tested by F1 cars - good enough testimony for me

I only use top branded rubber on all my cars - the Rav has Dunlops (which are known as the best choice for a Rav4) and the Corsa runs on Michelins. As it is not unknown for me to drive either car at a prolonged 90-100mph I won't take the chance.

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Here here  The difference when I had 4 fitted to mine was amazing

I would be on to Nankang.

No tyre should shred in those conditions.

That said, why did it shred?

If I were a tyre maker, I'd want to test the tyre and come up with a reason for it.

People tend to forget that tyres are the only thing that keeps your 1.5 tonne cars in contact with the road, and when you consider the amount of rubber in contact with the road on a normal car, is less than a foot print.

Tyres are also the only mod which can improve, acceleration, braking distance and economy.

I had nankangs on the front when I got the car. I may as well had concrete wheels on with the grip they didnt give.

i've used part worn tyres they really are like new when i get em no repairs or anything got 4 pirreli pzero assimetrico for £180 deliverd, i know that most part worn companies are really crap and dont care what they sell but yeah im well impressed so far.

Dont forget dynos put a lot of stress on all parts.

There are very few conditions where you will be accelerating very hard in 4th gear till nearly red line.

reasons could be.

Tyre not the correct speed rating,

Tyre over heated,

Tyre could have been slightly deflated. a 1-2psi drop can cause serious problems

Badly fitted tyres,

Badly balanced tyres,

Tyre has a leak.

I am sure there are plenty of other reasons, but Im not a tyre engineer.

What was the tyre size and speed rating?

I like to get my moneys worth out of mine.. What !! There fine as long as the roads dry ..

Jesus mate. Anything less than totally dry and that will become a death trap.

Let a lone £2500 and 3 points tyre below the limit.

I suggest you change them ;)
