Hi guys, well I'm staying in the country now and so have decided to keep the Z rather than selling her, so a few problems need rectifying!

First one is the brakes. Whenever I depress the brake pedal I get a loud "click" sound coming from the front wheels, happens everytime even when warmed. Any ideas??

Cheers in advance.

Jon

I get this too, but I just thought it was the 3g grooved discs. Maybe Im wrong.

I hope your callipers dont need tightening!!!!

Could just be snapped or lack of shims on the back of the pad.

Try putting a good wedge of copper slip on the back of the pad, see if that fixes it, and while your in there check the two bolts holding the calliper on are nice and tight.

Cheers guys, i have grooved and vented discs, but wouldn't expect them to make a clicky sound normally?? It's strange because the actual brakes work fine, not spongy at all.

Guess I'm going to need to take it into a garage because I'm not the most mechanically minded. Been reading through the previous threads and there was a couple of recommends for SAS Jap tuning in Aldershot back in 2002, anyone been to this place recently?

mine do the same

and mine, brakes work fine though

same here but only when im coming to a halt when braking at speed say from 80-50mph i dont hear it only when im completely stopping the car

mine too, sounds like a wooden sailing ship it creaks that much

That's wierd - I've fitted S14 (same as 300ZX) front brakes to my S13... they also make a quiet knock when pushing the pedal right down  I definately checked all the bolts were tight.

Brembo grooved discs, Porterfield pads, Goodridge hoses, all brand new.

Gonna pop the pistons all out at some point and clean them up, might help.

mines more like a "click...click...click" when actually coming to a halt anyone with any ideas on that ???
