Noisy Tappets - no more!

Recommended Posts

Had noisy tapets for about a year, and was going to get them redone with the help of a remortgage, but Jeff at Zedworld said try the noisy tappet additve from harry halford.

well bless my soul if it didnt just do the trick, not straight away though.

Put the whole bottle in and after a couple weeks, ( dont use that often now ) noise gone!! quiet as a mouse.

Worth trying if you have the same problem.

I did it just afte an oil change, so may have to add again on next change but so far so good. :hyper:

Ditto, I switched from castrol rs10/60 to valvoline 5/50 fully syn, cured my rattles.

dont know which oil the guys at ZTech used but my engine was so quiet after the 60 k service that i tried to start it again when it was running .....i can still see the horrified faces of the lads down there as i engaged the starter into a spinning lightened balanced flywheel

Some people use a cup or two of power steering/auto box fluid - it has a detergent property that can cure the lifter noise. But really - changing the oil first is a good idea. Only resort to additives as a last gasp fix before changing parts is needed!
