You can just get away with fitting an Uprated NA clutch. I would speak to Smithy to see what he can supply.

But otherwise the differences are that the TT has a larger Clutch and flywheel, and the TT gearbox has large bell housing to accomodate them.

surely that should say "bored" not "board" in your sig ??

What units have you beeen using so far mate ?

I assume with you being a TT now they have been TT clutch units.

whilst the N/A uses smaller units and TT units won't fit N/A engines as such, i don't know if the N/A will work on a TT lump and if it does maybe that's yer problem.

Can sort yer the RPS Sport for the TT, in stock too for £310 if interested.

cheers

i have already an uprated clutch for an n/a car which i bought from jeff zed world. a tt clutch is to big for the flywheel and gear box i have been told, i just want to know if i can put in a tt clutch gear box and flywheel, and if so will it all fit and sort out all my problems.

You can get a bigger TT bell housing/clutch flywheel etc (good luck finding them), but you are better off getting a uprated na RPS clutch from smithy!

i already have an n/a clutch that can take 450bhp and its still slipping guys, if i fitted a hole new tt setup( gear box flywheel and clutch) 1, could it be done and 2, will it work.....

thats all i wanna know boys, coz the torque of the car is what i think is the problem for the clutch,

1) yes

2) yes

All because you are now running the TT lump, however as manual gearboxes are sometimes a bit hard to find, the write up above from lymon is not hard to do for a garage and would save you the costs of another gearbox, leaving you just to buy the clutch and fly.

I will shed some light on this:

Karl asked about the manual gearbox and clutch I have for sale. Whilst happy to sell them, I did say to Karl that I had some concerns;

1) the tt manual prop is a different size to the NA manual prop, so if he either tried to fit the NA prop to the TT gearbox, or the TT prop to the NA rear diff he may have problems.

2) If, as karl believes, the torque is the problem and it is sorted by the addition of the TT gear box and any combination of prop, then that torque is going to be transmitted to the NA rear diff

Now these are concerns I have expressed to Karl as I have no interest in selling to someone and causing them more/ different problems. I am not saying that nay of the above would happen or be a problem, just making sure that Karl asks the questions I myself would ask before shelling out on this project.

So anyone done this?

I guess the best person to speak to (although he has replied above) would be Topless?, as he did a NA to TT conversion on his own Convertable.

Hi,

I used a TT gearbox on mine which slides straight onto the NA manual propshaft, in terms of the NA diff holding the power, I have no problems, it is a low mileage unit 30k and I have used redline diff oil. But I have only done about 10k in the car.

I would think Karls best option after smithy's RPS advice would be to go the TT flywheel and clutch route!

Jock if you still want to sell your manual conversion kit let us know your price we have people queing round the block for them!

thx for all your input guys, it has been a bit of a mine field but i think i will buy jocks stuff off him, if its still going.

and topless if you can send me a pm pls of your contact details just so i can get the low down on what i have to do that would be great.....
