I saw two 350Z's today at the Detriot auto show!! I like them. actually the sloping rear lines remind me of the 996 (current 911), but that's probably what you guys don't like about it.

That new 350 looks horrid..

Looks like yet another bubble clone..

Audi TT rear side profile, New MR 2 front side profile. Sort of squidged Porshe 911 back..

Wierd..

Reminds me of that tiny little suzuki from the early 80's.

 

Remember? The tiny one which was like a hatchback / coupé. (Many years before the cappucino..

Actually the rear of that red one reminds me of the BMW M Coupe. Now there is a car that could be a real handful - ugly but proud of it. I'm not a BMW fan, but I wouldn't turn down one of those if it was being given away !

Just in case anyone is confused - these are not pictures of the new 350Z... they're the concepts that *didn't* make it..

 

 

Although it could be argued that the new one isn't much nicer..

Well thats the problem with Porsche drivers. They all want the same look. Thats why all the new Porsches look the same. No one would buy a Porsche Boxter if it didnt look like a 911 from a distance. You ask them what they drive and you get "Porsche."

Hmmm which one Boxter? 911? 911 Turbo(996)? GT3? Carrera GT?

Cos if they said Porsche Boxter, I would snigger and if they said GT3 (Is there a GT4 on the way?) I would murder them and steal there car keys.

 

There are no designers that are orignial any more.

 

The AUDI TT, Porsche Boxter, New MR-2 and even the Z350 look very simalar.

It depends if people can have a discussion about it, or if its just gonna turn into a slagging match. So far we have had comments from Porker and autoxluke and so far they have been constructive. Lets keep it this way. Its good.

Luke - the headlamps on the pic I posted are different from the ones further up.. the arse end is also slightly different.. You're right though - the overall shape is very much the same..

 

Very much a smoothed off, slightly elongated 911, or maybe reminiscent of the Karmann Ghia..

I passed my English Lang O'level at 15 and then retook at 16 to better my grade from a C to a B. Then without actually reading any of the books properly for Lit still managed to bullshit the examiner and pass that aswell! LMAO

 

So 2 x English O'levels entitles me to use grammar and spelling any way I see fit! ROFL

 

I dont think the Audi TT looks like a 911??? The 944 looks completely different from a 911! (same with the 928)

 

I think designers pick up a "current popular theme" and they stick with it.

 

Take the mid eighties for example. The 944 came out in 82 as an 83' model. Then in 86' mazda's (2nd gen) rx7 looked awfully similar!!! You cannot deny that the Toyota Supra of those years also looked similar.

 

Hell! the 280z's can be argued to look like 911sc's. LMAO

 

As far as generalizing Pcar owners goes......lol Many of the 911 owners were upset that the half priced boxter looked similar. That is when Porsche redisgned the front end and made those much more aggressive looking head lights that are on the current "turbo" and all the 911 model to follow it.

 

I say hell! I think that Z concept and the 350z are nice looking cars. (they certainly dont' look like fugg'n ford escorts!)
