after having my NA Zed for nearly a week and running it on Optimax..put in £110 so far and getting around 25+mpg.

what do you run yours on? I wish the 99ron stuff that Tesco does is available up north. Cheapest super unleaded here is Sainsburys at 91.9p/ltr.

Does anyone put any addidtives in there fill ups?

Nothing but Optimax EVER!

But I do want to try that new Tesco 100 rony stuff :)

Mainly used optimax since i bought it. Only put normal unleaded in a couple of times when i was in the middle of nowhere with no shell in sight.

Dont matter I was not running 21psi on big blowers back then so I could get away with normal unleaded;)

in standard tune, whats a Jap spec NA engine setup for? is it 98ron?

Get this - In the back of the UK manual (for those of you that care to look), it says its safe to use...... Wait for it..............

   91RON Fuel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I don't even think you can buy it anymore! I use ordinary 95RON unleaded - Optimax if I'm treating myself, but I think normal unleaded is fine. (Not from supermarkets though - Only Shell or BP for me)

Where does is say use 91 ron?

I have the manual and it doesnt say that, and in there is a sticker inside the fuel hatch saying 95 ron.

has the mapping been adjusted in anyway or is it stock?

Its on the back page IIRC... It says you should ideally use 95RON but can get away with 91RON if 95 isn't available (ie in emergencies only!). Doesn't mention super at all though so I should imagine that most unmodified cars would be fine on standard 95...

Just had a look.

So it does. Strange.

Could this have been at a time when 4 star was more the norm and unleaded fuel was poor?

Stock, that's the whole point. I had a chip made by John Dixon and it sits in my top drawer smiling at me. Ireland only has 95oct now. If i want to put the chip in i've got to add octane boosters everytime i fill up. It's my everyday car so that would be impractical. Extremely frustrating.

you can always throw it over the channel towards the north west :D :p

Optimax for me!

Used BP ultimate once and got det, so never again, also used esso super on me old Z and that was fine!

Lol, tell you what if i ever do sell it will go back to the UK. But with the plans I have, it might outlive me

Tesco 99 ron when I can as its much cheaper than optimax. but never 95. :nono:

Was tempted to fill up with AVGAS the other day as its cheaper than the lot and its 100 ron

Ive used Tesco's 99 RON since i have had the car for about two months now....Seems to be fine on that, but i know no better...

Optimax only for me. Have used regular unleaded twice when fuel light was on and was nowhere near a shell. However the car is noticably quicker with optimax and returns higher fuel economy, so anything else is false economy really.

In back of my manual it says a rating of at least 95 Ron for Europe, and if thats not available 91 RON can be used tempoarily if you avoid full throttle and mix it will half a tank of 95 Ron. !

Possibly although you couldn't have used 4-star in a ZX as it would've killed the cat!

I do remember super u/l was available in 1990 though....

As for what I use now - 95ron u/l normally (Shell or BP only as I collect pluspoints/nectar points, no sense in spending a fortune on fuel and not getting anything back!). I use Optimax in very hot conditions though as I have occasionally had detting.

Stock UK car (well apart from filter & exhaust) so regular is fine.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
