Does anyone know the maximum power an N/A diff can take?

Also are there any figures for improvement in 0-60 times etc?

Is it a straight swap or are other bits required?

not sure, but I know it's one of the better modifications I have done.

Car shifts through gears almost like a motorbike. :D

you'll need the complete NA subframe with rear axles and NA propshaft.

you can get a new gear for the TT diff from leader i think, saves the hassle of swapping out subframes and gives you the same ratio as an NA

If you swap a TT diff over to an N/A ratio (either through changing the diff itself, or through new ring and pinion), won't you loose a 1-to-1 gear (normally 4th)? So if you ever get down the dyno you'll end up with unfavorable figures?

1:1 4th gear is done via the gearbox, your just changing the final drive - or am i misunderstanding you?

not when someone else will always do a search for you!!

Is that how Google works? :D

Is there a building full of Googlers typing away in the background?

So what is the top speed with one of these diffs?

(again why work it out when someone else can do it for you!)

your car get limited to about 160 ish and best idea for the power u r pushing is get the gear kit and keep the t/t diff as they are stonger thanthe n/a diff !! leaders do the gear kits. Huge difference in the caronce done ..well worth it...and yes i have it on my car!!!

here is the link toall the details on it : http://www.leadergears.com/site/content.php?content.5

Just added that to my shopping list :D

£425 ish + Tax though

Where's best to get one of these installed? a transmission specialist?

Sounds like it's not something you can do at home...

any good engineers could fit it all for ya mate, get ur diff taken out , take it into engineers with new parts and then bung it all back in. ztech did mine if it helps

You will need an engineering shop to do it for you in order to set up the backlash correctly , should only cost £500-600  to get it done properly

Hi Paul,

I thought that when the TT manual is in fourth, one revolution of the crank equalled on revolution on the rear wheels. If this is so, then changing the rear diff ratio will mean loosing a gear with a 1:1 ratio.

Regards

Simon.

No, as paul said, 4th 1:1 refers to the gearbox. 1 crankshaft revolution=1 propshaft revolutiuon. then you got the ratio of the diff to work out.

Does anyone know the maximum power an N/A diff can take?

I am sure I read it was 400 on a US site

TT diff with NA gearing is alot more than 400 though obviously

The question.............................................

I dont see anything in that question about leader gears

The US have been doing the straight swap NA diff for years

as Eric said you also need to change the subframe too.

This is a very good mod as it improves the cars acceleration and will really knock seconds off your 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

However it will reduce your top speed and it WONT take silly BHP as it was designed to fit a N/A,I read it will die if the BHP exceeds 400.
