has anyone changed the bulbs in their dash. I'm going to do mine cause the dash lights are very dull. I'm thinking of getting some LED bulbs instead and perhaps in blue.

Thanks for the pointer. Looks like a job for a sunny day, not after work in the dark and cold when its pissing with rain. I was just going to replace the twist fit bulbs behind the dash with some nice bright blue LED bulbs which are a direct replacement with no soldering.

I swapped my dial bulbs for blue led bulbs , to be honest it lookes a bit patchy , it deos,nt seem to spread the light around the dia;s evenly but that is a problem with led.s, Iv,e used the bulb replacements with one led in but you can get them with a group of led,s in them which would probably be better.

The only other problem is the needles look dark instead of a bright red, must be down to blue light trying to shine through red plastic :headvswal :headvswal

Iv,e also done Mujina.s switch binnacle mods, a bit fiddly but looks sweet  HTH

You can buy wide angle LED versions. The bulb type is 501, and you can get them with 4 or 6 led's. Alternatively with a hot glue gun, put a little bit of glue on top of the LED's and it will spread the light about better.

Unfortunatly with the Needles, blue light does not travel through them very well. Red would work very well.

How many of these LED's do you need, would prefer to know before taking my car apart and rendering it useless!!!

ta. I take the 501 type bulbs are a direct replacement I.e. no soldering etc.?

just done my dash with red LED's, if you reach round the back of the dials once the cover is off you can actually replace them without taking the clocks out, bit fiddly though. Haven't done the pods yet.

well it might be a good chance to stop some of squeaking from the dash whilst it's all apart :) although I suspect there will be a couple of new ones once I'm done.

I've opted for RED LED's and will stick 'em in at the weekend.

yep used http://www.ultraleds.co.uk £10 for 4 including postage, they were the wide angle versions at £2 each

I swapped my dial bulbs for blue single LED's and completely agree with you about the patchy bit. I've been told that if you use the multy bulb LED's and the cut a peice of perspex to fit over the end and rough it up with sand paper that it defuses the light evenly.

I also did mt switch binicles with red bulbs and they look sweet.

Just got to get the thing going again now.

A blob of glue from a hot glue gun will diffuse the light, but there also the Wide angle LED's available now which do the same job.

just got myself the 4-bulb LED versions and will let you know what they're like later. Should be much brighter than those single wide angle ones.
