There is a stock spash gaurd on the car, that sits underneath the filter. I guess its been removed ?

I expect that bumper you have is more prone to letting water through than the stock one.

the stock splash gaurd came off with the stock bumper the k&n filter i had on before was ok but it was a longer filter than the apexi so less air pressure on the filter

i have the same fmont end as your's with a blitz intake fitted, i had mesh behind mine last winter.. taken it out now but haven't driven in heavy rain since.. that may stop some of the water getting in?

"do i need to oil a apexi" your call mate but last time i did it on a earlly turbo supra it really contaminated the maf and fooked things up real bad :( i have a apexi but still have the lower splash gaurd and i can fly down the motorway in the heaviest of rain with no probs so i think the splash gaurd is the route to go

oil an apexi air filter... um

no

best thing to use kev is an air gun,but you can use an oil specific to cleaning air filters but there is aprocess you dont just pour oil on to it

as for splash guards if you use your initiative you can make one that will discard water getting on filter

if it happens again leave in the airing cupboard over night :)

Hold on... I have a apexi filter as well. My car sucks up water than a granny sucking a egg when it rains.

I am going to scrap it and get a cone filter... there is a protective case around it.. and it should keep a power at a constant.

also rain comes down from my bonnet right on to it.

I had this problem before and you lot helped out alot. so now passing on my knowledge.

or trying..

and yes you can oil apexi filters.. use the K&N stuff. its great for that... keeps dust and crap out.

Do NOT oil the Apexi filter. Its a Dry Filter.

For cleaning just use water and/or an airgun. The oil you can buy for cleaning other filters can render the filter useless.

As for Water soak, the Apexi is actually one of the better filters for preventing this. Not sure why the K&N does not suffer, perhaps it just does'nt give as much sucking force as the others. The Foam type filters are the worst for water soak.

well i think the k&n never suffered because it was a longer filter than the apexi so had less surface pressure also it had another cone on the tip where the apexi is solid, i've just put my splash gaurd back on so hopefully that will cure the problem

Might not have any thing to do with the filter, you might of damaged the MAF whilst fitting the filter :( i know i did when i fitted the twin pop and wouldn't go above 3000rpm :( so if you can i would see if someone near you will lend you theres to test on your car to see if it works with a different MAF on it, if it does then you need a New MAF :(
