My car is an early Series II 1993 see below

Is it easy to change from R12 to R134 does anyone know how to continue with R12 (I thought it was illegal) but if I can keep it for now I will...help anyone ????????

being a 93 like mine you should have r12,swaping to r13 is a simple job and iff ime not mistakin should cost no more than 150 squid. do what i done and find a friendly fridge repair geezer and ask him iff he has any r12 knockin about(cost me a tenner) :duffer: :duffer: plus a couple of these

I also have an early -93 Series 2 car and I have R12 in mine. There is a sticker under the bonnet that indicates the type of gas. Mine has R12 on it and the amount that the system is loaded with. If I remember correct the sticker is just behind the passenger side headlight.

think mine has been filled with hot air ..as its the only thing that comes out of the chuffing vents .............

Almost certainly R12, unless it has been previous converted. PaulC did an a/c write up in the FAQ area.

watch out for rip-off merchants. If they say you need to change any part of the system they're BULLS****G, nothing needs to be changed - the only reason they would tell you this is because they havent got the equipment to service old aircon systems.

I was quoted £200 before they even started, phoned a local mobile specialist - £70. But then i found my radiator leaking, anyway will be sorted soon and filled with a drop in gas - not sure what that is but it sounds ok to me.

It would probably make sense to change the drier though - especially if it's the original.

I think they should be changed with each aircon service.

Mine was replaced with R134a a couple of years ago. Cost me £70 and no problems since :D
