Does anyone know what would be the easiest way to get a line in 'headphone' type socket into my car stereo system? My new phone has a headphone type jack socket and I want to be able to plug it into the car stereo and play the music on the phone in car. I have a cable just need somewhere to plug it in! Would I need an amp with a line in or something like that. Currently the ice is a headunit with speakers in the normal places. Thanks in advance Dave

what make/model headunit do u have?

Mate if your head unit has an aux input its easy... Just get a phone to 3.5mm jack socket lead, plug it in to the back and mount the socket end somewhere nice - Sorted. the other thing you could do is buy one of those wireless ones that you tune into your radio - Like this - Ipod thingy

Hope this helps mate :smw:

An Alpine (785sr I think). Front loading cd type, non mp3.

I didn't mean that exact one - You can get a universal one that does the same job!

Does it have an aux?

Somebody did a write up on how to do this, in fact I'm sure it was me that posted the link to it. You'd have to search all through my drivel over the past 6 months or so to find it though ...

Havn't got an aux on the front, do they often have them on the back? sorry to be a bit bone, but never really touched car stereos. Dave

Would rather use a cable than the rf thing as the hiss always really annoys me.

Basically it is RCA (or phono same thing) lead on the back that is designed to plug into your playstation xbox dvd etc for the sound to come through the stereo system... It definately won't be on the front though - Let me know the exact model number and I can try and find out for ya mate!

That link is great Andy. I think I'm going to do similar. I don't want a dashboard that looks like something out of back to the future with wires and all everywhere so I'm going to get a proper plug that I can fit somewhere, maybe the centre console. Then I can use the cable I have which is a male headphone type on each end to plug the phone into the car. Dave

mu jap original carriozera head unit has got an aux/mix 3.5 mm input on the front of the unit.

well mine has!
