What would be the point?

So you don't see the advantage of more gear's and a closer ratio?

I am going to look into price's soon!

Obviously with a six speed box one of the major advantages would be Quicker acceleration/Faster take off.

I am going to look into the ratio's as well.

i know the box is strong in the 350z and stock it handles 283bhp approx so a stock TT/Na would be ok!

I am going to find out the Max Hp/Torq of this box if i can..

A 350Z gearbox is going to cost you thousands even from a scrapper.

Probably cheaper to get a gearbox kit from Japan.

So you don't see the advantage of more gear's and a closer ratio?

Didn't say it was a shit idea, i was asking what the point would be cos i dont know anything about the 350 box

What gains would you really see?

Gear Ratio's are found on this site:http://www.mccarthynissan.co.za/nissan_vehicle_specs350Z.asp?modelID=30 :)

Means nothing to me (and most likely 99% of the people on the site) could have just said to me

"spangle dongle" and it would mean as much.

In English. What would it do on 0 - 60 times for a TT Z32? In theaory :smash:

ok - its a close ratio box between 1st & 5th. 5th is the same 1:1 ratio as 4th gear on a z32 with 6th as an overdrive gear (havnt compared ratios to see the effect on top speed)

should see better acceleration through the gears with an additional gear to play with to keep the torque in the right range when shifting

:)

Thank's Paul that saved me a job of explaining it myself :p

i believe someone on here looked into it & Quaife may be able to do a 6 speed conversion for our box - may be a cheaper (& certainly easier) option all in all!

I think Macca looked into it and it was about £6K :o

YOU NEED TO SUBSCRIBE TO SELL ON HERE MATE

Someone needs to work out the gear ratios to see what it actually means for revs/speed etc

I liked the 350 gearbox, once I'd got used to it, top was especially useful for economical motorway cruising as there are fewer revs per mph than 5th on a 300TT.

im no expert but this does kinda smack of lots of £££ to get little back, a rebuild of your 300 box with slight change in the ratios and lightened fly/decent clutch would in all likelyhood make a bigger difference for less cash.

also you would have more support and access to skilled techs should anything ever go wrong... I can not see many people happy to repair a 300 witha 350 box ba$terised to fit init... IMHO

i don't know anywhere you can get a rebuild of that calibre for about £500.
