The Carfax reports looks super clean.

VIN#JN1CZ24D4TX580279

I called Stillen yesterday, gave them the VIN & 96-102 #.

All they could tell me was that Santa Fe Nissan sold it here in the U.S.. Called that dealership to see if they had record of it, waiting to here from them.

The State's Dept Motor Vehicles has an entry on the report on 5/2005 so I'll call them Monday.

The car is allegedly in the U.K. & the person couldn't register it so I'm very suspect. I'm trying to see if some of the military investigators in the U.K can help me out to see if this person is legit. I also have lawyers making sure my tracks are covered.

So, if anyone recognizes this car, please help me out - thanks!

Jesse

Thanks all for taking interest in helping out a yank ;)

The seller, Subashini Iyer, is reportedly in London & will ship it to me before I even pay. His brother supposedly works for Auto Car Transport. I'm staying collective about this, I expect it to be a scam but I'm doing the research nevertheless.

I was willing to fly in to RAF Mildenhall or Lakenheath to check the car out but if this pans through, perhaps one of you can help. We'll see what happens.

Hi,

Not to raise to many alarm bells, but I have heard about similar stories from Sweden (I am originally from Sweden but living in Ireland) and they have turned out being scams.

It has been LHD performance/luxury cars (in the UK that they want to sell on export due to being LHD) that the owner will send prior to payment being made. The car is usually "prices very low" compared to the usual European market price. They have wanted to get "shipping payed" through "money transfer" and allow you to return the car if you do not like it. False shipping documents using names of well known "courier companies" are used as to say that the car is in transit and they want their "shipping payment" (before car arrives). Car will in these scams not arrive, and the "shipping charge" via money transfer is long gone.

Communication from these scams have been e-mail and mobile phone numbers as I understand. They can/will call as to build trust. They can send loads of images over e-mail apparently and also quote VIN numbers, which may be valid or fake.

This car may be genuine, but be careful and make sure that someone you trust can view/check it before you part with any money.

The information I have is from a "reputable Swedish car magazine" (Teknikens Varld)that answered to one of these adds (Mercedes SL) and later printed a story on this as to show the type of scam that is going on.
