Thanks Marcus....hope they sound better than the lovely bose paper cones!!

Think they might require a little work to get them to fit mate :( Can I ask why you went for 6x9's though? At least they're in a good position being up front instead of on a shelf at the back firing all freuencies from 20 to 20,000 hz into the rear screen and creating that muddied "wall of sound" effect. Why not a decent set of comps? Probably would've been easier to get them to fit as well :)

Erm...because I've had Pioneer 6x9's before and liked them. Good sound quality. Didn't want componets as I didn't want the tweeter plonked haphazardly in the interior?

I'm getting some 16cm rears, someone's fitted some kind of chassis mount for the bose speakers and they don't hold the original 6x4s or whatever they were anymore.

Will I need to cut the door about a bit or is it just the cards that need some wittering?

I've got a set of Kenwood HQ 7x10"s in the loft somewhere, hardly used. Awsome speakers, magnets look like they belong on a sub. Never been able to fit them in any of my cars since my Cavalier 8 years ago. They cost me a fortume back then, sure i'll find somewhere to put them one day.

Lots of people put 6x9's in the doors but I opted for a nice Alpine component set up all round with an quality 8" sub. Sounds nice and tight!

I'm going to invest in some dynamat I think. Nice slab of it behind the speaker magnets on the door skin, then a load of it slap bang in the middle of the door, then some around the door handle....hope this will make it a bit nicer.

Fair do's :) The tweeter could of been flush mounted into the door though(http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=53035) or glassed and recovered into the A pillar for a factory fit finish ;) Imagine you'd have to remove the metal bracket that's in there and make up a new one (in MDF, and being careful that the magnet doesn't come into contact with the window behind).

Good idea, well worth doing! Going to be doing the same to mine (not to mention most of the rest of the car!) once my big parcel of goodies arrives from Nearfield Audio ;)

That much messing about? From my recollection, these magnets aren't that big. I will of course cut the forward most section out, so as to minimise any contact.

You'll soon know when you get them mate! I'm sure it'll all work out fine one way or another! :)

my 6x9's went in the door fine, bought then off a forum member and it took me half and hour to fit.

Hey stop messing with that lovely original car !
