Are there any particular things to look out for on this car????

Will be taking her out in the Zed though - and looking at the weather probably with the targas off as well   Anyone else going topless today

There was a buyers guide in Japanese Performance a while back.

Basically they are sound reliable cars so just the usual things one would look for buying any used car will apply.

I guess the condition of the roof is pretty important and evidence of cambelt change at 60k miles etc.

Leigh at Jap City (see traders) had a very nice J-spec with leather etc on an "s" plate for around £7k a while back. I saw it at the last Slough meet and it was a very nice car - luckily Julia never saw it as she wouls have wanted me to buy it......

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Cheers Richard - and as for you Si - you'll have to wait.

But she is an air hostess for Britannia ;)

Ooooh God!! Drool!!! *tounge wags*

I was seeing an air hostess when I lived up in Worcester. Bloody drop dead gorgeous she was as well! :D

I've changed the thread topic haven't I....sorry, I'll get a kipper round the listener from all the people that were moaning about it last week...hehe ;)

On a sidenote though, I looked at getting an MX-5 ages ago. Good little cars and you get a lot for your money. I was looking at the Eunos though, generally in slightly better condition than the UK versions, lower milage and all came with A/C, UK versions it was an option that not everyone had.

As with most girls colour seems to be high on the list of requirements, I don't think she's too bothered about a leather interior or engine mods.

Will check the hood and cambelt history plus recent servicing, panel fit etc etc.

Note for TiZer: she will be keeping this one on the road - LOL

If you can, find one of the rare electric blue colours. Lovely, similar to bay blue on the zed. :)

To add, lots of ones with dodgy hoods. MK1s, I think all came with PVC hoods and these only have a shelf life of around 6 - 8 years before they start cracking or shrinking. Most decent examples really should have had a new hood fitted within the last 3 or 4 years I would have thought. Older ones, g/h reg maybe on their 3rd hood. Some get replaced with mohir hoods, which, have a shelf life that will more than likely outlive the life of the vehicle.

a soft top mate ? bearing in mind she likes to roll em

Any pics of your daughter Apache?;)

have seen her mate :nana2:

The newer the model the better as every new release model got better reviews. Personally I would also look at the MG TF, they perform better if that's what she wants as well and I think they have more road presence.

Have a look on MX5OC there should be a lot of info and decent MX's for sale on there!

All the best

Rich

I have just advertised my other halfs MX5 for sale.

It is a 1993L 1.8i V Spec, (top of the range) Black with Tan Leather, recent 15" 5 Spoke alloys and Tyres, aircon, electric windows. And as for the hood I replaced the original MK1 hood with a MK2 hood. The advantage being that it has a glass heated rear window, and to lower the hood you just need to unclip at the front, no unzipping at the back.

Its a very nice car I am only selling because I bought her a Volvo C70 Convertable as she was complaining ar only having two seats!

Its advertised for £3995 but will take £3695 if its of any interest.

have seen her mate :nana2:

Oh c'mon, you can't stop there....obviously you have and you have something to say on this matter..... ;)

:ttiwwop:

I knew I should not have replied.... Now you want me to stop watching Grand Prix Qualification and take pictures?

Will do it when it finishes.....

I'm sure Apache would like a picture of the car but if I'm reading correctly FunkySI has no interest in the MX5 thread, he wants a picture of Apache's airstewardess daughter!

Waiting for her to come around and will ask her if she's interested (in the MX-5 that is)

Yampie - the MG TF is also on her list (also her preferred choice) but I gather reliability is a bit of an isuue with these cars??

Mr D J Tomo - I've already pointed out the soft top/roll situation - LOL

Thanks for all your help chaps.

Apache brought his daughter to Jonces leaving meet at his house so quite a few of us have seen her!! got the p*** took out of her all day cause she rolled her car.

and thats all I'm saying otherwise I'll never get a go on that simulator eh Phil ;)

oh an apologies for off topic Phil :x:

I've had 2 Rovers and 2 MG's and I had very few problems, IIRC the reliability problems were more with the early MGF's.

Forgot to give you all the details, mileage is 46,000miles and my other half is the only UK owner (last two years). Her plate is still on the car and is not for sale.

Here are the Pictures:

Have some more pictures of interior engine etc but having trouble uploading. Will put them up shortly.

Maybe so mate but personally I'd trust Mazda reliability over Rover anytime - MGF never fared well on JD Power surveys, unlike the Jap cars.

But ultimately you can have good and bad examples of any car - just pay your money and take the chance.....

Well she's been for a look and a drive and the MX-5 is a no goer!!!!. Also after having spoken to several dealers the MG TF is also off the list (reliability).

ON the list is a Pug 206 cc (1.6 version) - the story continues.....................

Any pics of your daughter Apache?;)

you just cant help yourself can you :wack:
