Ultimately I think it boils down to personal preference. For example, manual is quicker to 60 but the auto is said to be quicker to 100. However a lot of people have problems with the auto boxes. I would suggest, even though I have an auto that the manual would be more fun to drive, it's almost impossible to wheel spin an auto which probably means it useful for drifting if you are that way inclined. The pro's and con's go on..........

mine was auto and i had alot of grief with it (some swear by autos though)!

now had it converted to manual and am much happier :D

sadly i am selling it if your interested though :( (click link below)

its a GT...needs auto...nice n smooth...stress free...the miles slip past

its a Sports Coupe...why would you want auto....!!

as above no straight answer...its a question of style

IIRC the auto is quicker to 60 & 100...any straight line really

ive heard the auto is quicker to 100mph, but from having both i would say there was no way the auto was faster to 60mph but maybe slightly faster to 100mph.............does my english make sense???

Auto if you can find a fast road upgraded box, if not deffo a manual as a stock auto box WILL blow up, not if but when.

Both have near identical performance. Auto has the edge on straight 0-100 sprints (were talking 0.1 secs though) , Manual quicker in real world driving.

Auto obviously would be better for in-traffic driving, Manual better for sprited driving.

Manual MUCH stronger than Auto box , and with a Manual you dont have to convince every dissapionted passenger that its ok having an Auto in a Sports car/Super car :x: ;)

Manual zed's are rarer and tends to me more expensive.

My vote is the manual, but you might have a long search for one that ticks all the boxes you want (colour, mileage etc) because they are rarer.

and with a Manual you dont have to convince every dissapionted passenger that its ok having an Auto in a Sports car/Super car

And in fact, in my (albeit limited) experience, if it's anybody who knows anything about the car, they'll probably be impressed that you managed to track down a decent manual. ;)

Depends what you want it for. I love my manual, but there are times when I'm in heavy traffic, where I find myself thinking that an auto would be a lot less hassle.

ive never had an auto at all, so didnt know if i would like one

so i opted for manual to be on the safe side

i would have hated to buy an auto and not like it, then probably make a loss on it selling it to buy a manual

something else for you to think about

Ahhhh this old cherry!! LOL

I have an auto and really like it, but i'd rather have a manual!! Simple as that!

I like autos, but for me personally, it's manual all the way...B, it's more fun and you have more interaction with the vehicle, B, it doesn't feck up quite as bad as autoboxes when things go Pete Tong.

Thats only hauling chunkster about mate.

I have the use of both and both are fun and fast.the auto is obviously smoother but u have more control with a manual.

I have both, a LWB Auto TT (fast road tweaked) and a SWB manual TT. Good and bad for both as has been said

BUT, I wanted a manual because there is so much more control when trying hard, simply put you have more gears to chose from, and have more control on which gear, when and how you use it. On long fast roads an auto is fine, but as it gets tighter, more traffic the manual rules.

And my standard SWB feels as quick as my tuned auto LWB......

This is a little bit of-topic, but how much does an auto box cost when it brakes down? Is there much else you have to replace if it brakes?

Ken

Cost over a grand to recon my auto box last year. Nothing else but most people stick a seperate gearbox cooler on at the same time as stock design is poor. Would never get an auto again! Manwell all the way! Dave

Hi, I'm new in and am just about to convert an auto TT to a manual. As the clutch will not be assisted, are they still fairly light, also, does anyone know the wiring mods in respect of the auto loom to suit a manual box.
