before i had the Zed i had a 2 nova's

i loved them to bits

anyway, not long after i got the Zed a friend got a 2.0 16v nova

while sat at a set of lights an audi TT pulled along side of him

the lad looks over and begins to rev his audi

my m8 does nothing, the lights change and the audi driver nails it

as the audi pulls away my m8 pulls off and blows him away

the conversation goes like this

at the enxt set of lights the audi catches up

"what the hell is in that?"

"eh?"

"that ant no 1.2"

"yea it is"

"no it ant"

"it is, just a very quick 1.2"

the car is totally standard exterior wise

he has just 2 buckets and a cage

for me that is what car modifying is all about

there is one lad building a v8 nova

i personally think it takes some skill to pull something like that off, prob wont be very safe but still lol

ha sweet though, I'd be pi*sed getting blown by a nova when driving expensive audi!

Wolf in sheeps clothing, nice.

I used to have a Mr2 Cavalier when I was 18. I dropped a 16V and bolted on some twin 45's. Rapid car. Blew a many of cossy's back in the day.

Never going to pull that off in a Z though. Everyone knows there fast!!!

he would not get insured lol

some lad i know spent a fortune on his 106, sold it for over 14k, think he spent well in excess of 20k on it

fair play to the lad but stuff like like just dont appeal any more, ie Big kits, huge wheels etc etc

its like your tastes mature as u get older

aahhh the 16v "redtop"

one of the best engines vauxhall ever made!!

I built a MK3 Astra Cabrio 3.0 V6. Did this ages ago, but only just sold it...stealthy, but fairly nippy. Grew out of it totally and got bored.

Back then I was trying to source a redtop turbo but they were megga money. To be honest the 16V on 45's had a bit of power. Think it was about 195BHP. Doesn't sound much now but when I was 18/19 it was fooking awsome!;)

yea the LET's still fetch decent money

That was nice project Si. Bet you were chuffer with it back then. I know what you mean about growing out of things though. Hasn't happened with the Z and I've had it 6 years now.

Red top turbo was the C20LET as fitted to the Calibra and Cavalier 4x4 Turbos. Not a bad engine, quite smooth.

XE with carb will produce around 185 - 195bhp / 155 - 160 lbs ft of torque, so pretty much throttle body terratory.

I still keep thinking about getting another 205Mi16 as a runabout.

Awsome cars, and mine would just drive away from any Z on the really twisty stuff I used to drive up in scotland.

Thanks, yeah, it was quite good fun. Looking back on it, maybe a waste of cash. But I bought that when I was 21. Had it for too long really, due to redunancy, I couldn't afford to upgrade, so was lumbered with it.

Can't see myself growing out of the zed. It's fun and sporty, but mature enough to be taken seriously. :)

i think the Z is the next level

i know i wont get bored of it for a while

to be honest its hard to see what can replace it for that kind of money??

Different ball game now. The Z was designed to be a suppersports so will always demand respect. The same cant be said for the likes of Nova's, astra's and cavaliers! It was good fun while it lasted though.

Sure thing. Not gonna slate them, but you sure can't compare them. Zed has everything for me at the moment.

So its not just about the speed as any smaller car (mind you, did you know that my SWB is only 6" longer than a MK2 MR2) can easily be made to go fast.

Pair of roller skates and a jet pack ??? ***!!!

No its about the whole car of course, the package, I can cruise or race in comfort with aircon on and radio head playing, I can put my foot down and pass 99.9% of cars on the road and all for a few grand.

Look after them guys they are truly the underrated supercar of the nineties.

Yeah, but I bet you gave a few people on shock on the way! Nice one.

i built a chevette, with rally suspension, dropped a magnum 2.3 SC with twin 48 delortos, it looked completely standard appart from a 'TURBO' badge I stuck on the back,

people would pull up and laugh at the turbo badge!

they wern't laughing long...
